Strings recommendations for 3rd Gen Pure Strike Tour?

I’ve played with several different string setups on the PST, and 46-48 seems to be the sweet spot for full poly, but nat. Gut/poly at 52/48 does wonders with that racquet.

One handed backhand players, favorite/best rackets?

After having used RF97A for nearly two years thinking there is nothing better for my OHBH, Pure Strike Tour and the 18x20 showed me the light ;)

Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike (16x19, 18x20, Tour) 3rd Gen Playtest

The additional weight of the Tour maybe THE fix for that. The 18M is also very predictable for me, but I did have to add a lot of weight into it for better balance. Good reviews, thank you.

It is interesting you both have similar comments about the 16M. I am not experiencing inconsistencies in shot depth or direction with the Tour, I am now curious as to how the 16M differs from the Tour to induce inconsistencies, reduced weight/mass is enough to account for this?

How can I improve my horrible tiebreak record in doubles?

Yes, of course, there are degrees to everything, I do not mean drastic changes during a TB. For full disclosure: I am having one of my not-so-good TB year; set tiebreaks are okay, 7-3, but match TBs are 12-12. Players tend to play more conservatively during TBs, so being a tiny bit more...

How can I improve my horrible tiebreak record in doubles?

In the TBs the first three points are crucial, objective is to win two of those points at the start regardless of who is serving first. I do not subscribe to the approach that whatever worked for you to get to TB, continue doing it. I think I understand the underlying thought behind this, but...

Poly Cross moves on upper part of the string end (OS racquet)

That kind of movement also happens when there is large tension difference between the crosses. For example, you wave one cross, tension it, but the clamp base is not locked in and moves, dropping tension. Without realizing you wave the next one and tension it correctly. I had to chase this...

Review Part 2 Volleys: My volleys have taken a downturn this year. It has been the main source of my frequent doubles losses lately, and I have not found a way to fix them. With the PST, I continue to have troubles with my volleys, but not as much as I do with the RF97A. My expectations for...

Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike (16x19, 18x20, Tour) 3rd Gen Playtest

Amazingly, having never used a Pure Strike previously, I think those are the best reference tensions for the 3rd gen as well, although I prefer VS Touch/RPM Blast Rough combination.

Guessing that you maybe using the continental grip, changing to semi-western or western grip should fix that I think.

Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike (16x19, 18x20, Tour) 3rd Gen Playtest

IME, shoulder soreness results, most of the time, due string bed or frame stiffness. I would not classify the PST as a stiff frame necessarily and its vibration frequency is relatively low. So, may be lower tensions or string change might help. Which strings/tensions do you use?

Second try with the 18M after my elbow had started feeling sensitive the first time around, and this time it was worse. I played against the wall just hitting some soft shots and within 10 mins I started get some sharp pain, so I stopped. Generally, outter elbow pain means the racquet balance...

    Time for an update: Angell?

I went through similar path as you, OP, and actually did end up buying several Angells, from TC90 to TC100. The best I liked was the TC97. After about 8-10 months I moved to a different racquet. With Angell you need to know your specs for racquets, otherwise it may turn out to be a waste. And...

Just went through PTR Certification Process (Performance)

Congratulations! I was really impressed how easily the video personalities could simulate those errors with their strokes, I cannot do it even for just demonstration purposes. Thankfully I scored in those tests very high, which actually gave me a lot of self-confidence, I like those tests.

Tennis Warehouse Playtest: Babolat Pure Strike (16x19, 18x20, Tour) 3rd Gen Playtest

I think the genius of the PST is the the grommet design/string spacing. The main 4 strings are spaced as tight as in the 18M, the next 4 are slightly wider spaced, then the next 8 are spaced gradually wider. I think that tightness of strings in the middle eight gives it the control, the next 8...

I got to play with the 18M first time today during a doubles match. A very clean hitting stable frame, much easier than I thought in generating topspin, FH and OHBH, and slices are like a dream in accuracy and ease of shot. I strung it with VS Touch for the mains and RPM Blast Rough for the...

I am going to use VS Touch 16 for the mains, and RPM Blast Rough for the crosses; it gave great results with the Tour, hoping for the same with 18x20.
