    String Combos in RF97

Using the RF97 since 2014. VS Touch 1.30/ 4g 1.25 Klip Legend 1.30/ BHBZ 1.25 *Pre stretch the mains and extended pull time on the crosses. By far the best set ups I have found after years of trying Poly/Syn Gut, Poly, Poly/Poly, Poly/Multi, Kev/Zx, Full Multi, Full Syn Gut.

    2019 Wilson Blade

Saw him playing the other day with the V7 cosmetics and it looks exactly like the V7. Same soft feel paint etc. Could be one of the older Blades. He uses the stock specs and if anyone is using the actual V7 it would be him.

Especially on the WTA. They can use it as is and it’s interesting that you don’t see them playing with the frame more often. Halep and several of the women are using the paint only. Goffen who plays with the stock Blade looks to have moved to the new frame.

Both of these frames, the V7 16x19 and the 18x20 hit well and the most significant thing I see for recreational players is they have made is easier on the arm. If you hold the racquet at the end of the grip and bounce a ball at the very top of the frame, mis-hitting some, you feel nothing in the...

    2019 Wilson Blade

The only relevance to level and the subject of this frame is its more suitable to the 4.5-5.5 players after tweaking the frame with weight. The 2015 Blade is more commonly used. The reason it is one of the most popular frames in D1 and D2 collegiate tennis. The majority of Blades that you see on...

String breaker with a sensitive elbow, is an 18X20 racquet my best bet?

16x19 with Gut mains and a poly with a low stiffness rating.(180’s-190’s). 18x20 with full poly and a sensitive elbow are a bad combination. Poly/Syn gut or poly/multi at low tension and up 4lbs on the crosses would last longer than your current set ups and be easy on the arm. Few options: Weiss...

    Yes, that should work.

Best 18x20 Racquets of 2019 (& Some Oldies Too).

The weight on the V7 is what I am interested in as well and how much weight other than the shrink sleeve and leather grip to get it to 12.3.

Best 18x20 Racquets of 2019 (& Some Oldies Too).

Hey Troy, how much weight in the handle of the V7? I’m playing with the 2017 6.1 95 18x20 stock and wondering what would get me in the ballpark with the V7. Thanks

    X-One Biphase 16G + ALU Power 16L on PS97?

Spend and extra $9 dollars or so and get a Natural Gut like Klip Legend and a slick poly cross with good tension maintenance .The money you save on the poly will pay for the gut so you are looking at a lowe cost playing Gut/poly as opposed to playing Xone/Alu. You will get better playability...

Anybody notice they rewrote the NTRP Guidelines?

Think I enjoy practicing with the upper level juniors and collegiate players more than competing these days. Can make a difference there.

Nice! By that I can play 4.0 now! No thanks. Truly starting to despise all things NTRP.

***Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 95 Club***

Have three of the 2017 Re issue 6.1 95 18x20’s. Great frames and back and forth from this frame and the RF97. Gut/poly in the RF 97 @ 58/55 and the 6.1’s with BHB7T @ 46. Feels like I can’t miss a ball with the 18x20. Superior control with that frame.

Pro Staff 85 vs Pro Staff 97 Black

Have a Hyper Tour 90 and was hitting a few balls with my kid today with that frame. How would you string that frame? Have been playing with the RF97 at 58/55 with Gut/poly for awhile. Guess could try the 48/45 that Fed used to play in that frame.

Wilson Pro Staff RF97 strange membrane peeled of

4 black RF97’s and they haven’t started peeling yet but if you look on the inside of the hoop you can see tiny shiny spots. I assume this is from playing on Rubico a good bit and the rock like granules hitting the inside of the hoop. Have two 2016 PS97’s with the soft feel pain and one of them...

USTA League Nationals start in four days

We only play a handful of matches here in the Southern division at the higher levels. It’s normally tough to get in the two required matches just to get to State. It’s just a couple of semi competitive doubles matches for a whole season. If League play is all that you do around here it is...

USTA League Nationals start in four days

Thats good stuff, Team tennis can be fun but it has erased the tournament schedule and has its issues with producing fun quality tennis at the higher levels. It’s like you have to get to regionals/nationals to play quality matches. Easier to play a couple of times a week with the best we can...

USTA League Nationals start in four days

Matches are much closer and better than the ones we play in league. Higher level matches. Quality play. Fun. League you have a number of players that are bumped too soon or are playing up. Brings the level of play down. Opposite problem of the 3.5 guys in this thread.

USTA League Nationals start in four days

Not sure about you but the majority of matches that I play, especially singles matches are not even in a league or tournament. Play a couple of matches a week and they are normally with the 4 best guys we can find to play and occasionally a singles match. The leagues aren’t going away but it...

USTA League Nationals start in four days

If I played 18 events of any kind in a year and left the family at home, it wouldn't go well. My family will actually travel with me to tournaments if it is in a fun area and our three kids have things to do. I'm thinking more like 5 tournaments and my family involved. The way league tennis is...

USTA League Nationals start in four days

Its not an argument, it more like a wish list. If the 2.5-3.0 guys had 3 day tournaments they could play in as well the fees are worth it. My hope is that tennis will shift more back to tournaments. Players improve tremendously that way regardless of their level.

3/100ths of a point from getting bumped up two levels. That about sums up how ridiculous the system is we have now.
