What do Berrettini, Gasquet and Youzhny have in common?

Fat lady already sang a tune, entitled 40-15.

What do Berrettini, Gasquet and Youzhny have in common?

At the US Open? In 2020, Fed is heading into his second decade without a title. If you make it to the end of the US Open, you can be assured Fed won't be there.

Fed hinting at retiring after Wimby 2020?

Yes, well said. Every time a Djoker fan shouts 40-15, just shove Halle and Dubai in his face.

GOAT Talk: Good or bad for tennis fans (Please read through)

Are you looking for answer to your question? When Fed had a 6 slam lead, I didn't cry or worry about it. When or if Nadal or Djoker pass Fed, Fed fans will have to get over it pretty quickly, because Nadal and Djoker fans will celebrate it the same way Fed fans did. Is someone expecting...

GOAT Talk: Good or bad for tennis fans (Please read through)

Were Fed to win another two slams, GOAT discussions would be back in style like you couldn't imagine.

GOAT Talk: Good or bad for tennis fans (Please read through)

When Fed has a 6 slam lead, it enhances the discussion. Following 40-15 and #19, it ruins the experience.

    One week on Rafa fans.....

Fed's the mental GOAT, no doubt.

    One week on Rafa fans.....

Wimbledon took Fed out physically for the US Open? What happened the previous decade?

    One week on Rafa fans.....

As you said in another thread, this is the best slam to win. You get to enjoy it until next year.

When will Djokodal fans fight against each other?

Just something to think about. Maybe Murray and Fed fans will unite.
  11. Antonio Puente

When will Djokodal fans fight against each other?

I was thinking about the Big 4. Once Fed is in 3rd place, near the bottom, I wonder if he will be lumped together with Murray more.

    ClayDal....King of Clay

I'm just curious where Orion and Taurus would need to be in the sky for Fed to win another US Open.
  13. Antonio Puente

    ClayDal....King of Clay

Yes, Nadal, a guy who has won four US Opens, two in the past three years, who made both hardcourt slam finals this year, who was held off 10-8 by Djoker in the 5th at 2018 Wimbledon clearly needs the stars to align to have any chance at all off clay.

    ClayDal....King of Clay

When you say this, you also have to keep in mind Nadal did it in three slams. You're taking away a slam, so in three slams, Nadal equaled McEnroe's career... McEnroe's career slam total. Also in terms of variety, outside of RG, Nadal now has the same number of slams Pete did outside...

    Nadal's Final Slam Count

If Nadal does get the slam record, we have to be decent about it and still give credit to the other greats past and present. Djoker is an amazing player, obviously. Pete and Borg? Those guys were warriors.
  16. Antonio Puente

Nadal is 0-8 in successful attempts at the WTF

Sure, Djoker has been more successful at the WTF. When you are talking about the two greatest players ever, possibly the co-GOATs, Djoker will be better in some areas, Nadal in others. More power to him.

With the exception of 2013 the last time Nadal beat Djokovic on a hard court was in 2010

Yes, except for those other times three years later. Lol
  18. Antonio Puente

With the exception of 2013 the last time Nadal beat Djokovic on a hard court was in 2010

Hey, no shame. Djoker is a great player. You're talking about the two greatest players ever.

    Celebrating Nadal's Epicness

Yes, 2017 AO was thought to be it, the Hollywood ending. Nadal would never recover from the crushing defeat. Not so much. Nadal has only won 5 slams and 7 masters since then, along with hopefully two YE#1s.

If Federer doesn't win a Slam in 2020, his stature won't be much better than Pete's

Once Fed is in 3rd place, the Sampras conversation will get interesting. If Fed no longer has the the slam record, if he loses other records, what will people point to? His heart and mental toughness? His excellence against elite competition? Among tier 1 members, Fed is the mentally weakest...

It’s crazy but it feels like Federer is out of the slam race

Fed won't play RG and might as well not show up in NY, so he really only has two slam opportunities.

Who would have thought that Nadal would bring back S & V ??

Just when Fed fans thought things couldn't get worse.

Federer missed golden chance to 21 at Uso '19

In 2020, Fed will be entering his second decade without a US Open title. When you get to the end of this tournament, it's a pretty safe bet Fed won't be there.

Any other preference or wishes Rafa fans.

Checklist: YE#1 AO - Double Career Slam Gold medal - Double Career Golden Slam WTF - don't care and never will. The status it now enjoys on this forum, the phony, made up statistics like "top 5" tournaments and "big" tournaments? That nonsense is all of about 5-6 years old, born out of...

Rafa, the youngest man to win 19 slams

Nadal - 19th slam in 58th slam appearance. Fed - 19th slam in 70th slam appearance. Nadal - 35 Masters in 117 appearances. In 117 appearances, Fed had 23 Masters.

2019 has been the worst year for Fed fans

40-15. It could have been the Hollywood ending. Turned into a horror flick instead.

2019 US Open Men's Final :- [2] Rafael Nadal (Spain) v/s [5] Daniil Medvedev (Russia)

Great match. Epic matches always seem to find Nadal. Rafa is US Open king of the 2010s. This is now his tournament.
  29. Antonio Puente

What is the point of the way tennis is structured as a whole today, if Rafa can win two slams not facing his two main rivals (who beat him in two

I realize it was easy to forget, but Nadal straight-setted Fed at RG, and Fed hasn't won the US Open in over a decade, so if you get to the end of this tournament it's a pretty safe bet he won't be there.

Rafa fans, who would you prefer hold the slam record, Nole or Maestro?

In real life, Fed is headed for 3rd place. He will face Sampras in the bronze medal game. If I had to choose? Two years ago, I would have said Fed, but after choking once again at Wimbledon, it's hard to respect him. Looking at tier 1 - Nadal, Djoker, Sampras, Borg and Fed - it would be a...
