As an old school tennis fan who loved Sampras, Becker, Edberg, Lendl, Federer etc tsitsipas is the man for me!

Yeah, I see your point. Guess I'll have to concede to your point there. I will add that I think Rafa's ability to place the ball deeper has to do with a change in forehand grip that no-one else seems to have noticed. He seems to be using a conservative semiwestern to an extreme eastern grip...

No disagreement with you there for the most part. I'm just saying you can't look at a contact point diagram for a particular match and call it a day. The reference to Nadal is really more the young Nadal that hit heavy tospin balls from 2-3 m behind the baseline. On a side note, it's kinda...

how was the nadal 's form at the 2018 AO ?

It was okay Kinda disappointing tbh; don't think his level was particularly convincing

Is hitting down the alley when pulled out wide a "% play"?

Agreed. OP, there's a high % that your partner is a french shower Anyway, it depends how far out wide you were when you elected to hit out wide. If it's just a slightly wide CC, then unless you were inside the baseline you may have been better off hitting a wider CC shot and trying to win...

Your take on high balls with the OHB?

Or try the other Rafa solution and just hit a 2HBH

    Wearing glasses with perfect vision?

yeah but people do that because they think they're deficient in those fiddly bits here, OP has perfect vision but wants to look like he doesn't It's like those people who self-identify as disabled and take pride in that, even though there's nothing physically wrong with them...

WTF title: One Glaring Big Hole in Nadal's career

TBF if Murray fans had to put down every tournament because he hasn't won it, you'd have a laundry list of tournaments to denigrate, no?

I've played every Age of Empires game since the first one Still disappointed AOE4 goes back to the middle ages. Would've loved a return to ancient civs like AOE1 and ROR

    Do you do split step?

It's really just a matter of logic. If you need to be airborne when contact is made by the opponent, then you can't possibly jump at the same time he hits the ball. You have to start the hop a bit earlier, or much earlier and take a huge hop--which may be the case if you're deep behind the...

Can you train yourself to see the ball at faster speeds or is it more about natural talent?

I could barely return a decent 60 mph serve a few years ago, when I started playing tennis seriously at the age of 23. Yesterday, a new guy joined our group. Muscular fellow, received proper training until he was 18 but stopped playing for whatever reason for a few years. Said at his very...

    Do you do split step?

Yeah, it's more of a window than an exact moment. You just need to be in the air when contact is made, so there's actually plenty of time to get it right. On serve returns I find myself splitting more than once, but it's partially just to get myself a bit pumped up, and partially because my...

    Do you do split step?

I picked up the split step when I took up tennis properly at the age of 23. Shadow swings followed by a split step is how I practised so it became part of the shot. The difficult part was to instinctively time the split step following irregular shots, where the opponent makes contact earlier...

As an old school tennis fan who loved Sampras, Becker, Edberg, Lendl, Federer etc tsitsipas is the man for me!

The point is that hitting the ball on the rise and hitting it inside the court aren't necessarily the same thing. And I wasn't referring to the short slice or other deliberate short ball...the kind of short ball that is accidentally during a normal rally as you would expect from Murray or Nadal...
