Nadal 2009 AO vs Sinner 2025 AO

2009 AO Rafa is his best AO version. Fed's best AO version post rebound ace was probably 2009 and Rafa beat him. Sinner could never. Also old Rafa struggled about as much vs Med at the AO 22 final (3-2) as Sinner did vs Med at the AO 24 final (3-2). I voted Rafa in 4, at least Verdasco is left...

Nadal 2009 AO vs Sinner 2025 AO

You forget Fernando is a lefty, it's a more important advantage than a slightly better BH imo

    Roland-Garros 2025 Final - Jannik Sinner [1] vs Carlos Alcaraz [2]

He won 20 sets in a row and then lost the last 3 with 1 more set needed and tripple championship point. You could not possibly get closer to winning the tournament. Indeed the closest runner up ever in a Roland Garros final. Even if this is hard to swallow this tournament is a huge positive...

    Roland-Garros 2025 Final - Jannik Sinner [1] vs Carlos Alcaraz [2]

Controversial take: Carlos would've made this comeback at the Olympics if it was BO5. The 2 sets vs Djokovic were toss ups just like the first two sets today (as well as the other ones except the last set tiebreak blow out). Carlos is just different in BO5 vs BO3.

    Roland-Garros 2025 Final - Jannik Sinner [1] vs Carlos Alcaraz [2]

Feel sad for Sinner though. But he pushed Carlos to a 5th set tiebreak on clay. I am optimistic about his chances vs Carlos at the other slams. That said I hope it won't become a habit of his to not convert 3 consecutive championship points in the future.

Let's see indeed, happy Carlos at least made it a 5 setter. Right now I think he will win.

    Roland-Garros 2025 Final - Jannik Sinner [1] vs Carlos Alcaraz [2]

He would not even beat the Tsonga that Stan took like 4 hours to beat in the semis. And mind you that was at the tail's end of Tsonga's prime (his peak was 2011-2013 imo, his prime i suppose 2008-2016).

    Roland-Garros 2025 Final - Jannik Sinner [1] vs Carlos Alcaraz [2]

Yeah but Sinner is playing his A game, Carlos isn't. If Carlos gets closer to his peak level in the remaining set(s) he might still win imo. The rebreak in the third just now is promising.

    Roland-Garros 2025 Final - Jannik Sinner [1] vs Carlos Alcaraz [2]

Why are people acting like the first 2 sets weren't toss ups? Why assume the next 1-3 won't be?

Is Zverev is the best player to never win a slam ?

He would struggle to consistently reach the 2nd week of slams in the golden era. Come on, how on earth could you think this giraffe pusher is in the same tier as peak Soderling, Tsonga, Nalbandian etc. just because of decent BO3 stats in maybe the weakest era ever? Those guys beat peak/prime...

This is was Federer couldn't do at 37.

The guy could barely reach for dropshots. Alcaraz and Sinner are better than the cream of the crop of previous gens, but their ceiling is below Murray's if we're gonna be honest.

This is was Federer couldn't do at 37.

Federer's level was way higher at Wimby 19 lol. Nole just won two tiebreaks on mental strength against a passive, nervous and error prone Alcaraz (who is not big 3 tier). Fed lost to a 32 year old Nole, for reference Fed beat peak Nole in 4 sets at Wimby at that same age.

TTW SURVEY => Since when are you following Tennis with vivid memories and a proper understanding of Tennis ?

I saw glimpses of RG06, WB06, AO07, RG07 and WB07, but just the finals or a few matches and not for more than a few minutes so I have no memories of any plays from those tournaments. AO08 is when I started following closely. I had just turned 12 by then.

    Nadalovic 2010 - 2016

Fed did it against prime Nole, Wawrinka, Murray, late 20s Rafa while Nole and Rafa do it against zoomer mugs. 2017 Fed could get a calendar slam with this field lol. Rafa and Nole are feasting on the weakest era in the history of male tennis and it has pretty much been going on for double as...

    Pure class from Roger Federer

His level against Cilic at RG was promising imo, he was terrible at Wimbledon though. I would try one more Wimby and then call it quits.

    Pure class from Roger Federer

He acted like this too when he beat Rafa several times in 2017 and was up 5 slams.

This defeat might just destroy Medvedev

Nadal looked slow af, Medvedev just cant hit close enough to the lines, lacks power and just eventually returns a ball poorly giving Rafa the chance to hit a winner with the forehand. In 2008-2014 Medvedev would not have been top 10 ranked I think, maybe top 15. 1990s (or later) born tennis...

All of the main Next Gen have choked from 2-0 up in major finals

There are no male tennis players born in the 90s or later that are (future) top 20 ATG material. This trend of zoomers being trash at sports is similar in most other sports (football/basketball/etc). The social media generation.

Daniil Medvedev says the kid in him "stopped dreaming" after what he experienced today with the crowd.

I think it is a thing with just a few slavic orthodox countries like Serbia and Russia, but I think a superstar from Czechia or Bosnia or something would be treated well. Wawrinka is slavic too and he is loved.

Daniil Medvedev says the kid in him "stopped dreaming" after what he experienced today with the crowd.

I disagree, the dislike of eastern european slavic countries goes for the orthodox ones. Not the catholic ones (or muslim one in Bosnia).

Daniil Medvedev says the kid in him "stopped dreaming" after what he experienced today with the crowd.

Only against slavic Orthodox Eastern European countries. I don't think a Czech/Polish/Slovak/Slovenian/Croatian/Bosnian superstar would be treated badly in tennis. Look at football, Ibrahimovic is probably the third most popular player after Messi and Ronaldo.

Daniil Medvedev says the kid in him "stopped dreaming" after what he experienced today with the crowd.

Ibrahimovic is one of the most popular football players on the planet (maybe even the most popular one after Messi and Ronaldo), I don't see why that can't be the case in tennis. In fact, Dimitrov was marketed well and would have been very popular if he fulfilled his expectations.

So what are the Next Gen defenders gonna say now?

Imagine having room temperature IQ and think Fed profited more from 3-4 years (2004-2007) of subpar competition than Nole and Rafa profiting from clown competition for 7 years (2015-2022). Federer kept getting heartbroken by prime Djokovic in his mid 30s (WN14, 15, US15, AO16) but Djokovic and...
