Swing style should dictate head size

Well, perhaps not slower ball speeds to any significant amount but slower swing speeds (at my level anyway).

Swing style should dictate head size

True, but I think 99% of players could improve their games by reverting to classic strokes and smaller rackets - with the slower pace etc..

Swing style should dictate head size

It can be done, no doubt; but you’ll frame it more often. A mild topspin is normal for old school strokes as well.

If the doubters have never seen this match (doubt hardly anyone has though I have posted it before), watch and be enlightened.

Swing style should dictate head size

Agassi strokes are not what I’m thinking of - I’m talking Stan Smith style.

Swing style should dictate head size

No way. If you’ve ever played with a 70 racket you’d realize that hitting the ball on the strings is not the problem, it’s brushing up that ‘s the issue. So - if you don’t hit topspin, a small head is superior.

Swing style should dictate head size

Just depends how one swings - if they take a full swing and don’t hit big topspin then they should use a smaller head and dense strin gun pattern. Don’t be a d$)(

Swing style should dictate head size

LeeD - yes, we are talking minor differences here and the racket isn’t going to move you up a level of course. But I truly believe that with baseline play, the racket size and string pattern is important to get right. A guy with driving strokes is going to have more success with a smaller head...

    String tension and topspin

Arm pain is from poor technique - using too much arm instead of letting the body do the work and hinging from the shoulder. Go heavy racket and force yourself to use the body. I have a friend who refuses to change - light racket, all arm, and constant arm pain.

    String tension and topspin

Tighter strings are better - or a low powered set up in general. Big spin only happens with big swings - and that only happens when you’re damn good and at that point you can handle a lower tension. For normal people, a slow swing will trampoline off of loose strings and a big swing will be...

Swing style should dictate head size

I’m looking for opinions here and looking to help - I’m not making an expert opinion. I’m 50, been playing since I was 6 and I’m a 4.5 on a good day. I have experimented with many rackets - played with wood, T-2000, yamaha fiberglass, prince oversized, prostaff 85, 95, and multiple others 100...

    Kyrgios penalty is a joke

I watched another bad-boy play live, Fognini, a few years ago. It was interesting - all the women, especially the older ones, were diehard Fognini fans. I wonder if that Italian cheering was coming from the women. Not sure what this says about older women.

    Kyrgios penalty is a joke

Haha - I just read what he said in the podcast. I have to agree with all of that; have to give the boy credit where credit’s due. I guess you either love him or hate him - I currently hate him but if he keeps ragging on Nadal and Djokovic I may come around.

    Kyrgios penalty is a joke

I think the fine and default were appropriate. I understand that no amount of sanction will cause a change in Kyrgios and I understand the same about Serena. What I don’t understand and what is irritating is the amount of support both of them get from the fans including this forum. To see...

Kyrgios looks deranged at times - a sadist is my guess.

    2019 Miami - ATP Masters 1000 - General Discussion

Good sportsmanship is mocked - the crowd loved that inner city school trash. The announcers were cowards as well - PC sycophants. Hewitt would have been scorned by the commentators but Kyrgios gets a pass - gee, I wonder why.

The coach should be fined as well. But it sounds like most want to see the coaches on the court - all because of Serena’s mental problems.

Serena ruins the finals - not completely surprised. But moderators, she’s still the best Tennis Player (she could beat any man) of all time - please don’t delete my account for racism.

Do most of you swing HARD?

UEs are what loses a match for me - almost always. I just want a consistent stroke that I can rely upon when I see the guy has just hit another one at me. Should I be thinking topspin for net clearance? Relaxation? Follow through? Head down? None of that imo - the only thing that works for...

Do most of you swing HARD?

Resurrection Anybody feel that they need to concentrate on not swinging too fast? I find that if I don’t purposefully keep the backswing slow and relaxed - making sure I only accelerate towards contact - I have really bad timing. I find I hit better with a slower stroke with slight...

    The problem with modern tennis

Yes - was going to mention him but haven’t seen him for a while. There’s also M Zverev. Not sure if Florian Mayer is still around.
