Anyone use Ashaway MonoGut ZX ?

Can't believe folks are still experimenting with this excrement... Zyex whatever It's made of fun material all right.... very stretchy when you pull slowly when installing, but behaves like a steel wire in the racket. Dangerous for tendons, particularly as you are duped into believing it's soft...

Five reasons why Novak Djokovic is tennis GOAT

Something doesn't feel right about Joker as being a GOAT now.... After 5 more Slams?... But isn't it ridiculous to talk about Slams like that? 5 more Slams.... One Slam could life time achievement for so many.... so many don't even come close but still well known and respected players... Joker...

Why are players of Slav origin doing so well in tennis?

And BTW, Shapovalov is Slav, may be of Jewish faith, maybe not, who knows.

Why are players of Slav origin doing so well in tennis?

It's just an appearance that Slavs are doing better than others in tennis. Europeans in general are doing well in tennis and half of Europe is Slavic. That half has been behind the wall and now after the wall fell they are here, that is all. Not more, not less. Can we say that Spain is not doing...

Crosses - soft feel but resistant to grind

I had played two doubles matches in the inter towns tournament - nothing checks the string as the actual competitive play. Here is more feedback. Pros: Performance wise - the string performed wonderfully. SPIN - one of spinniest setups I ever had. POWER - great power. Control is due to spin...

Crosses - soft feel but resistant to grind

Yes, it is ZX. These are my initial impressions, waiting on my second hit to firm on opinions. But for now: ZX only seemingly soft. It's stretches unreal when being strung, when slowly being stretched. The string bed is very bouncy and it seems soft when you bounce a ball on the racket. But when...

Crosses - soft feel but resistant to grind

Yes I love Alpha Gut 2000 as a cross I would say it's even better than Gosen Sheep Micro If I have time to string I would use it exclusively, but I do not get much playing time with it, just measly 5-6 hours I just grind it away until it breaks.

Crosses - soft feel but resistant to grind

First impression after hitting with the full bed of Monogut ZX for two hours. Racket is Babolat Pure Control, 352 gramms strung. Monogut ZX full string bed, mains 50 lbs, crosses 47 lbs. It feels stiffer than my normal setup, way stiffer. It's got same power than my normal setup, but with more...

What exercises to complement tennis for weight loss?

I think it's called "military diet" or "ice cream diet". Congratulation on inventing it

What exercises to complement tennis for weight loss?

The only thing that can compliment 3-4 weekly tennis for success in weight loss is diet. Exercise alone will not do it. As a matter of fact it's not even 50/50 It's mostly diet and a bit of exercise to keep your metabolism up.

Plantar Fasciitis and the split step

I am not convinced you can single out split step as a cause. It most likely is just a one out of many factors associated with tennis. You've got to look what the true change was. Lots of things can cause PF, e.g. change in activity, sudden increase in intensity, injury, surface you spend most...

Stomach acid - what's the deal with it

Reading again about OP problem, I kinda think that there could be more done by paying attention to the foods you eat. Sometimes you've got to acceptthat you sit a bit off normal and you've got to manage that. PPI might not be a good solution here. I would find a good nutritionist.

Excellent post. Would you be able to describe the weight difference please when you went to synthetic grip and back to leather?

Stomach acid - what's the deal with it

Yeah, sounds complex. Best to follow doctor's advice. I've heard even food allergies could manifest themselves this way. PPI are excellent to manage GERD. Unmanaged, it can lead to oesophagus cancer or to that intermediate condition with name I can't recall. When you diagnosed with that you just...

Agree with that. And my doctor just does not see anything wrong with keeping me on PPI. It simply weighing up the risks.

Stomach acid - what's the deal with it

How is that an infection (heliobacter pylori) when 50% of people have it without any negative side effects? They treat it with massive doses of antibiotics that virtually eliminates anything alive in there.

    Plantar Fasciitis Release Surgery

BTW, I had to substitute some activities with new ones. I gave up running and soccer, instead I am biking and kayaking. I did try basketball, but it just kills my feet. Surprisingly, I have managed to retain tennis. I have given it up for two years, but then as my condition became chronic I have...

For me, Fed has surpassed Jordan, Brady and Gretzky

Good question... how do you compare. Maybe take 10 best athletes in each sport and compare the best to the weighted average of the best 10. The further the distance the more GOAT he/she would be. But there is no such comparison, and there are fat sports where fat guys could succeed. So it's just...

Stomach acid - what's the deal with it

What I am thinking about that is this. Our current world is so sterile compared to the time when that stomach acid was actually used for food sterilization purposes. I am not physiologist or nutritionist, however I believe that our guts might be no less important for food digestion than our...

    Plantar Fasciitis Release Surgery

Good luck. PF sucks, been with that for 7 years, still am. Spent zillions of dollars on specialist physicians, sport physicians, custom orthotics, physios, shoes, etc Spent zillions of hours icing, stretching, massaging, etc Read every book on Amazon on PF. One day I will just ask to chop my...

Stomach acid - what's the deal with it

There are lots of reasons for too much acid. And it's very individual too. As a matter of facts, there might not be anything wrong with it unless the stomach valve doesn't shut properly so stomach acid gets out into the food pipe. Then it is a problem. My problem at least. I am taking PPI for 10...

Wilson Pro Staff RF97 Autograph - red or black

Weight is not that much of a concern....all my rackets are around 12.5 oz This one will be the heaviest at around 13.2 Could be the best one I own, who knows...until I hit with it. Waiting for my kevlar strings to arrive....

Wilson Pro Staff RF97 Autograph - red or black

Ok, just checked the construction and it's impossible to take the plastic protection cover off as it's one with the grommets, unlike on the head racket I own. Wilson premium leather grip feels thin. Anyway, do not see much point in making grip lighter, won't help with swing weight. Would rather...

    First time kevlar trial

I am stringing my own rackets. For many years now. Where did that assumption come from that I don't. I am completely unfamiliar with Kevlar and Zyex, though Wouldn't mind to gain some prior knowledge to avoid too much experimentation, don't have that much time for that. Ok, so what I have...

    First time kevlar trial

Well noted. I am an older weekend warrior, tired of stringing, and looking for my "winter"setup that would last no less than 20-30 hours or two months, whatever comes first. Poly/Gosen lasts 10 hours and I want more. Seeing Kevlar/Zyex combination as potentially doing the trick. However, I am...

    First time kevlar trial

Ok, that will take time to sink in.... So what I am learning here is 1. Do not drop tension when using Kevlar (counter intuitive as Kevlar considered stiff like hell 2. String Kevlar mains 20 lbs higher than Zyex cross, though Zyex tends to lose tension? Anyway I'll check the thread you...

    First time kevlar trial

Gents I wonder if someone can confirm my assumptions that Kevlar does not lose much tension and Zyex does lose lots of tension unless pre-strung? I am keen to try Kevlar mains with Zyex cross, thinking, Kevlar mains at 45 and Zyex at 50, let them settle overnight for next day game. Basically...

    Gosen OG Sheep Micro Crosses

I am thinking...technique? I mean, when you hit right, the ball just slides along the crosses. I am using Gosen Micro with various tensions, based on the racket, from 50 to 60 lbs - haven't noticed any such issues.

Thanks. Not sure how many grams I could save replacing the grip, 2-3? The leather seems to be pretty thin. I am also thinking of removing plastic guard from the top of the racket. Haven't checked the construction of it yet. I have done this on one of mu heads long time ago, and stripped the...
