Preempt Aussie Open on ESPN to broadcast 4 hours on Joe Pa?

Hey Ronoldo-it's on the schedule, it's the R16 of a slam, and in some time zones, it was live in the wee hours. If you say you're going to show it, show it. And for the guy that says that ESPN should cover it: of course they should cover it. But they're showing the SAME HOUR OF...

Preempt Aussie Open on ESPN to broadcast 4 hours on Joe Pa?

I also would like to know why, if ESPN has no intention of showing last night's matches, the Tennis Channel couldn't pick up the re-air. They have a cooperative arrangement...

Preempt Aussie Open on ESPN to broadcast 4 hours on Joe Pa?

Couldn't believe this myself. Great night of tennis, including a much-anticipated match involving a young Australian and arguably the most popular tennis player on the planet. Nope. ESPN hates tennis; why are they involved in the sport? They should stick with what they know and love: poker...

LA Tennis OPEN --- Andy Murray #1 seed, also Stars Bradley Klahn in qualies

Here's a question: How come you have to twist people's arms to come to a Challenger tournament-which is practically free-and yet people will pay Indian Wells prices to attend a tournament in which, after the first few seeds (many of which drop out), you have many of the same players as in the...

    Rafa quits Shangai???

I figured this was a sarcastic response to my post. Obviously, if there's an injury (other than the nebulous "fatigue") it changes everything...

    Rafa quits Shangai???

For all intents and purposes, Rafa now IS the ATP. Sure the schedule was made by the previous administration, but if this is a sign of adherence by players to the rules set out by the sport's governing body, things are evidently on their way down hill. Yeah, it sounds like I'm running around...

    Rafa quits Shangai???

This stinks... This is just bad for men's tennis. For the number one player in the world to pull out of the year-end championship hurts the game, especially in the USA where the sport is tiny blip in the overall sports picture and getting smaller all the time. It's hard to believe that this guy...

It's a miracle, I can see the ball on clay!!

The US Claycourt Championships in Houston was on a type of clay that wasn't quite as red as the European style, but still, the ball was very easy to see and follow. I wish everyone who denigrates the TTC broadcasts could have seen this one in HD. I wish they'd shown some of the early rounds...

Can anyone see the yellow ball on red clay on TV?

For now anyway, TTC in HD is a Directv exclusive. The US Claycourt Championship was on a reddish (but not as red as European) clay, and it was incredible. The best HD tennis I've ever seen (at least technically; too bad Blake folded like a cheap suit)-and needless to say, no problem picking up...

    [Merged] Federer's 2008: Let's Get Real

My 2 cents: He just plain looks slower to me. He seems to be caught out of position a lot more than last year... Also, even when he anticipated Roddick's serve location, he couldn't get around on it in time. Sometimes even on the second serve. Somethin' ain't right...

IW Tournament Directors discuss Fox Sports and ESPN issue

I remember your earlier post about IWO. We arrived on Sunday of opening weekend at 9:30am, plenty of parking at that point, and the parking attendant said "I hope you already have your tickets." So, this parking excuse sounds strange to me. But it was very crowded-noticeably more than last year...

    Indian Wells Ballkids

Ha! But seriously, this has to be one of the most thankless jobs ever. Not only do the kids have to deal with the balls, but they're also "towell kids," "umbrella kids," "court trash picker-uppers," etc., etc. The players treat them extremely disdainfully-last year Clement was booed by the...

Miami TV Schedule, Livestreams, Questions, and Complaints

Why is the Tennis Channel website so poor? The homepage states the coverage of Sony Ericsson one way, the program grid shows a completely different schedule, and the tournament breakdown lists coverage as ESPN2/TTC. When will media companies realize the importance of their websites? On a...

Coverage of the Pacific Life Open has been pretty lame so far

Even though FSN on Direct TV is listed as an HD channel, the tournament is being broadcast in good ol' SD. It could be that the cameras being used are SD as well, which would explain the poor picture quality. We've gotten used to sports images being "captured" in HD, which yields a better image...

    federer serve and volley?

After the Aussie Open the story went that Federer served and volleyed exclusively in that match so that Roddick wouldn't get a feel for how he would actually play once the tournament started...

So far, the matches I've seen on TTC

I don't get it... US tennis fans should get on their knees with thanks toward the Tennis Channel (which I guess is pushing to be called "Tennis Channel" now-no "The"). No way would any other outlet be showing all of the Masters Series events-with evening repeats for those who miss the live...
