    Anyone from Idaho?

Boise is a great place for tennis. There's way too many public courts that you could use for no fee. There's this Boise Tennis club which meets at Julia Davis park every Sunday from 9 AM - 1 PM during spring and summer. That's a great way to meet tennis community. And of course there...

Hi, I will be moving to Phoenix this weekend. I will be working and living in the downtown area. I've been playing in the USTA leagues (men and mixed) at the 3.0 level. Am looking forward to meet tennis buddies in the Phoenix area. If anybody is looking for team members for leagues...

    Symptoms for Strings to Break

Yup...I have seen that and ignored it a couple of times. It just took a couple of topspin shots to do the damage.

    Symptoms for Strings to Break

Could we anticipate/predict that the strings are going to break sometime soon by looking at the condition of the strings? Like for eg., if the strings are kinda blackened out at some spots, is that a symptom that it is going to break? I keep breaking strings during a match. Even though I...

    knee pain

Yup...weak hamstrings (also) causes knee pain. My physical therapist suggested some hamstring stretches to do before I play. That has worked quite well for me. Am yet to get into the habit of warm down stretches. I believe that should help a lot too.

Why is that they dont broadcast any of the doubles matches. Leave alone early rounds...even the semis or finals are not shown on TV. Even though I love to watch and play singles, I've always wanted to see how doubles is played at the pro level. Any ideas anybody? Can I buy/rent doubles...

What does it take to start a tennis academy?

Hi, My dad is looking at setting up a tennis academy in India. He wanted to know what it takes to setup one. Basically what is the kind of infrastructure that would be needed in terms of land area, tennis equipment etc. I know this is a long shot to get such information, nevertheless...

    My worst opponent: myself

I guess this is a very typical situation for almost all players. Try working on your breathing. Take all the time you can between points, games and sets to get a "breather". Take deep breaths between each point. I found especially while serving, it made a lot of difference to me when I've...

    Serve under the blinding sun?

Not sure if this is the best way to do it, but this is what I do. I stand almost parallely to the baseline in such an angle that when I toss the ball and look up I dont see the sun directly. When I hit I kind of turn around at that instance with a slice on the ball. I did try sunglasses...

    Handling soft serves

Hi, How would you handle soft serves coming in during a doubles game? Yesterday one of our opponents sprained his elbow and started using under arm serves. It looked too easy, when we returned it back hard, it either went into the net or went long. When we started returning it slow...

Tennis Elbow Braces: Do they work?

This is how I am getting out of my tennis elbow problem: 1) Took a week off from tennis. I spent the available time in reading some tennis books and watching instructional videos. 2) While playing I use a sleeve type brace which supports the elbow and kinda controls the tendon movement...

    Doubles Positioning

So what is the rationale with these "preferences". Why do you like the strategy of having the lefty in the ad court?

    Doubles Positioning

What is a good strategy to position ourselves when one of the partners in a doubles team is left handed? One suggestion I've heard is for the "left hander" to take the "fore-hand" side so that you would get a better court coverage. Any further thoughts?

For sure, jumping rope is better than jogging. Various parts of your body is being worked upon. I read somewhere that hopping with the rope is even better.
