The Yonex Vcore Pro 97D, after 12 months, switching

+1 on the recommendation. Suggest gradual changes but might even suggest lowering the tension even little further for 18x20 string patterns.

    Brands and grip sizes

I don't think it's OP's imagination. There's been posts on this topic in the past. Someone else mentioned Yonex pallets tend to run slightly larger than pallets on Wilson rackets. However, Yonex offsets the slightly larger pallets with thinner grips. I found this to be the case as well and...

Yonex VCore Pro 97 HD review...

I find that Yonex grip size runs slightly larger as well. Normally use 3/8 on Wilson's but go with 1/4 on Yonex's. One thing to note (at least on the DR98's and HD's) is that Yonex tends to use thinner grips with larger handles. I think it would be difficult to find a thinner replacement...

Yonex VCore Pro 97 HD review...

Got a chance to hit with the HD this past Saturday for 2 hours. My sample came in at 11.2 ounces unstrung and 11.8 ounces strung with Alu Power Rough 16L at 44lbs. Below are some mental observations and notes on the HD: Lot less power than I was expecting at the weight and tension. Even at...

Anyone using DR98? Strings - PTP vs Hyper G?

I used the DR98 before I semi-switched over to the Blade v7 16x19. I used both 17 gauge PTP and Hyper-G strung anywhere between 44-48lbs. I added about 8 grams total at 2 and 10 (around 11.8oz) to all 3 of my DR98. I found PTP lacking in both power and spin. Hyper-G was lot better in both...

Yonex VCore Pro 97 HD review...

Can anyone comment on the 97HD's grip size and grip used? I'm thinking about ordering a demo but want to order the right grip size. I normally hit with a grip size 3, but on my Yonex DR98's, I went with a grip size of 2 based on lot of comments being made that DR98 grip size ran big, but used...

Yonex VCORE Pro Line - 2020 Update

Interesting regarding power. TW reviews rate the HD having slightly more power than the Blade v7 18x20 (and 16x19 for the matter). Also, a forum member had posted a comment from Troy stating the HD had more power than the Blades v7 for sure.

why some rackets make my 1BH so easy?

Here's my guess. Most 1BH players like fast swinging rackets. Smaller head sized rackets and thinner beams tend to make the racket swing faster through the air. The Vcore 98 has the same head size as the Ezone 98, but the Vcore 98 has slightly thinner beams which let's you swing your 1BH...

Blade 16x19 V7 with more free power and spin?

Sounds like you could probably benefit from a racket with higher static weight and more HL racket than the v7. When I first went from my leaded DR98 (11.8oz/7HL) to a stock v7, my arm felt tired. I'm guessing it took a little more effort to whip the racket head around. Got used to it after a...

Blade 16x19 V7 with more free power and spin?

What I noticed on the v7 is that the sweet spot tends to be more towards the center of the racket. The sweet spot can feel smaller if you tend to hit the ball slightly above center (more towards 12 o'clock). If I "mishit" a ball more in the center of the v7, the ball comes off hot.

Blade 16x19 V7 with more free power and spin?

What racket were you using before and what is the string setup on the v7? I switched from a leaded Yonex DR98 (11.8oz) to a v7 because I was looking for a little more power. The v7 also gave me a slightly better feel than the DR98. I agree with you though that the v7 is not the spinniest...

Wilson Blade v7 16/19 vs 18/20, what are the differences in feel and control?

Currently using the 16x19 version. Started off with ALU Power Rough 125 @44 pounds as well. I feel the Blade v7 benefits from a higher string tension. Currently using Hyper-G 17 @50 pounds. Most likely will try and stay at 52 pounds.

I think Dragy was joking because of the camera rotation you used.

Clash 98: underrated racquet of 2019.

I had mentioned the same with the Blade v7 on one of the threads. I suspect the lower stiffness of the racket is causing a little too much pocketing or ball to dwell on the strings a bit too long. Just like it did for me with the Blade v7, the Clash 98 could possibly benefit from a stiffer set...

    What’s wrong with my FH

Almost hesitant to make this recommendation, but I think OP can benefit from a slightly longer take back. Looking at the still shots comparing to his friend's take back, his racket appears to be in front of his chest a little too much. A little more evident when watching his video in slow-mo...

Need help learning the kick serve, what am I doing wrong?

I'm always trying to improve my kick serve as well and it seems you are making some of the same mistakes I've gone through. Inconsistent ball toss makes you "chase" the ball and not make contact at the optimum point Lack of RHS partly due to inconsistent ball toss, which makes you hold your...

Yonex Dr 98 vs Wilson Blade 16x19 V7

I've been playing with the Yonex DR 98 for 18 months before I started experimenting with the Wilson Blade v7 16x19 around September. Personally, I liked everything about the Yonex DR 98 (after customizing to 11.85 oz and making them 8 pts HL) except in the feel department. Prior to the DR 98...

    2019 Wilson Blade

I thought the 18x20 felt a little "boardy", but could have been due to string and tension. Personal opinion is that the v7 16x19 plays/feels better with a stiffer string setup. Out of all the polys I've tried (Alu Power/16L, Alu Power Rough/16L, Tour Bite/17, Hyper-G/17, Yonex PTP/17, I...

Clash 98: underrated racquet of 2019.

Sounds similar to the experience I had with the Clash Tour last night. Borrowed a friend's Clash Tour that was strung with gut/multi at 52/50. Didn't have any of the plush feel I was expecting. No where near any sort of pocketing or plough through. Was very surprised how the Clash Tour felt...

    CLASH with POLY really Arm-Friendly???

Have you tried a different string setup? Been using full poly (Alu Power Rough, Hyper-G, Tour Bite, Yonex PTP) for as long as I can remember and only recently changed (about a year) to a hybrid gut/poly (VS/Yonex PTP). So much easier power, 80% of the spin of a full poly, great pocketing and...

    2019 Wilson Blade

Been playing around with string/tension setup for my 16x19. Have one strung up with HyperG@47 and another with Alu Power@47. The Alu feels softer and seems to offer a little more power for me. Going to try and get the rackets up to 11.7/8oz and 5/6 points HL. Having said that, in stock...

    2019 Wilson Blade

Got a chance to hit with the 18x20 and compare with the 16x19 I've been using for the past few months. 18x20 felt plush and stable, but a little "boardy" compared to the 16x19. As expected, the 18x20 has a lower trajectory ball flight than the 16x19. After playing a few sets with the 18x20...

    2019 Wilson Blade

I tried with Alu Power Rough 16L @ 45lbs. The first time I hit with the freshly strung racket, it was a hot Saturday in the upper 90's. String/racket felt really soft and the ball was launching. Subsequent hitting sessions were in cooler evenings and the strings felt stiffer and had more...

    2019 Wilson Blade

On the topic.....anyone know the twist weight of the Blade v7? I want to compare to the previous generation Blades and the Yonex DR 98. Measured the balance of my v7 on a table and a ruler and it's coming in only 2 points HL. http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/cgi-bin/twistweight.cgi

    2019 Wilson Blade

Got a chance to hit few hours with the Blade 16x19 v7 today at Arcadia Tennis Center. Normal racket and setup is a Yonex DR 98 with VS gut 16 gauge mains@48lbs/Yonex Poly Tour Pro 17 gauge crosses@45lbs. I used to use a full set of Alu Power Rough on the Yonex until I discovered the benefits...

4.0+ - How long do rackets last you?

I had used a Wilson PS85 for over 15 years and after awhile, I felt the racket had become more flexy. Finally upgraded to a set of i.Prestige Mid. This was awhile back. After watching a video on how tennis rackets are made, I'm now leaning even more towards that tennis rackets will eventually...
