    Windows 8.1 HATE Thread

Really the only problem I had with earlier Windows versions was the Blaster Worm about 13? years ago with XP IIRC. It was a virus you got just by being on the internet and using Internet Explorer. You would get a message saying "Your Computer Will Shut Down in 30 Seconds" and it would count...

    Windows 8.1 HATE Thread

I am aware. They have been trying to get me to "upgrade" for a year. Not falling for that one. Windows 10: New and Improved Windows 8.1 Now with MS Spying Technology!!!

    Windows 8.1 HATE Thread

^ Yes, that is what I hear. By "upgrading" you enable MS to spy on you as much or more than Google already does. Monopolies are AWESOME!!! I was finally, sort of, able to get to the pics. Just don't ask me how I did it because I have no clue. And that is really the whole deal with Windows 8.1...

    Windows 8.1 HATE Thread

Windows 7 was great IMHO. The Brain Trust at MS decided to loose the plague that is 8.0 and 8.1 upon us a few years back. Windows 8.1 is probably the worst, most cumbersome, clumsy OS is the history of OS's. "Upgrading" to Windows 10 seems a non-starter based on what I've read; it is supposedly...

Windows 10 Upgrade - Cursor Delay Typing

Windows 7 was the last good OS that MicroSoft made IMHO. 8 and 8.1 are geared toward touch screen/mobile and don't really work well for laptop/mouse/touchpad setups. Everything I read indicated upgrading to 10 from 7 or 8.1 was, in effect, a downgrade. I have one 7 laptop and two 8.1's are...

SCAMMERS - can TW keep sellers updated in the classified forum?

A sticky would be a good idea. Especially when there are active scammers. The fraud from five years ago doesn't matter much, the fraud from this month matters. Is it possible to make people sign in to TT to see the classified section? At least that way, TW could ban alleged scammers, they...

    wise on sale at eagnas...

Dire, I think I had a Hawk 80 for a short time, IIRC, all black, table top with a linear bearing gripper, six point mounting, drop weight with stamped black fixed clamps (which were the low end Eagnas clamp.) It was okay but I sold it not long after buying it and bought a used Czech table top...

Racquet says"One Piece" but can it be hybriod?

It can be done. At times, one has to threaten the subject racket into submission. But, I have strung many a one piece frame two piece.

    Is it ok?

I have purchased vintage rackets on the bay that have strings that are probably from the 1950's, the rackets were fine.

    strung my first racquet.. umm..

5 hours? :) It is called the learning curve, son. In a few weeks/months, you will be doing a racket in an hour or less. My first string job was fugly. That is pretty normal. After a while, it becomes second nature and is much less stressful. Welcome to the club.
  13. Fearsome Forehand

    Is it ok?

As long as it wasn't strung far beyond the high spec, it should be fine. Eyeball the frame for warpage but it is probably okay. The strings may have lost tension, if you hit with it and it feels dead or like a trampoline, restring it. You can gauge the string condition unscientifically just by...

    Stringing machines

It depends. They are some machines with very solid two point systems (Prince/Ektelon comes to mind.) Other two pointers are so hot, like some of the lower end machines. In theory, the more the merrier but it depends on the design. All else equal, you should have a more secure mount and better...

    The "Seinfeld" Club

Adding to the list of ex-Seinfeld actors who show up somewhere else.... Anyone watched 'Magic City"? It was a premium network show (Starz?) that ran for two years (16? episodes) about two years ago. Not a bad show. Rumor is they are going to make it into a movie. The show is on Netflix now...

Should I buy a Pro Stringer machine?

How many of the pros paid for a machine versus ones who received a machine for free (if they agreed to have their names posted on the website as users of the machine)? I think those rankings are lifetime high rankings, not current. Huber hasn't been ranked #1 since 2007. She is not in the Top...

    Rotten Handle

Same thing I was thinking. You could use a half size sleeve after scraping off the excess off the handle, wrap the grip very tight (minimize the overlap) and the net increase in size would be minimal. I would use a heat gun, a blow dryer, or even very hot water to heat up the gunk on the handle...

Wheel Casters for Gamma 6004 with brakes

If you have calipers, just take measurement and email them. They should be able to tell you what will fit. Or, you can send them one of the feet to confirm size and just have them send it back with your caster order. I ordered from them once and made out well. I got the plastic ones with the...

Wheel Caster Kit for Ektelon Machines

There are places that sell casters that will fit any machine for like $2 each. Great Lakes Casters for one. That is where I bought casters for my upright crank machines. Work great. (Get the locking ones. )

Should I buy a Pro Stringer machine?

So does a suitcase. One could put the Klippermate into a suitcase with wheels, wrap the machine parts in bubble pack and lose the steel case, plenty of room for string and tools, problems solved. (Broken down, the Klippermate should easily fit into a carry-on size suitcase with wheels.) I...

Should I buy a Pro Stringer machine?

I would just get a Klippermate with the travel case. It does a good job and is about $250 including the case. Really nothing to break, very reliable, case is made of steel, machine is legendary for being tough to break.

Wheel Casters for Gamma 6004 with brakes

Geez, don't pay $20 for a freaking wheel. Google Great Lakes Casters (in Michigan.) They sell every wheel imaginable for like $2/each. You need to get the right diameter for the stem though. Maybe send them one of the feet or measure the stem with a caliper. I put casters (with brakes) on my...

    Flipping Racquet For Stringing

I have never given that any thought. I imagine it evens out over time? I suppose it would matter if the enlarged grommets are only on one side. But, I think they are almost always on both sides (R and L). I always focus on setting up correctly, not missing any grommets, no misweaves...

    HEAD Trisys series

They were competing with the Wilson's si (swing index) and the Prince's power level. All tried to assign a number to a player's desired power level. The 300 and the 280, the Prestige (mid) and the Pro Tour 280/630 (mid-plus) are two of the best player's rackets ever IMHO. The rest of the...
