Racquets aren't made of butter - re-stringing cross string only

I agree, if I were doing this for a living I would not do it. For friends, family and myself, absolutely I would.

    The gut/poly thread

I used to play sonic pro as a cross with VS or tonic, I tried the black Boris Becker poly for a while - which was surprisingly good. Now I would say hawk is my favorite. It seems as though it's meant to be a cross hybrid to gut.

Racquets aren't made of butter - re-stringing cross string only

If you use a gut hybrid, and don't break string quickly, and are not filthy rich, you would be slightly stupid not to restring your own crosses and preserve a perfect half set of VS gut mains. But that's just my opinion. I don't need it to be validated.

    Hybrid Strings

Just may be the dumbest post I have seen outside of fedace's garbage. My guess is you would be scared to cut the crosses out when they go dead? I cycle my rackets this way and have had a half set of gut last for nearly 1 year. I would say for people that string themselves this is quite...

playing with spin(open pattern or dense pattern at low tension)

It's a slippery slope, stiffer rackets with open string patterns, requiring stiffer strings. Frequent string changes. Inability to afford good natural gut. Sounds painful. I'll stick with soft low powered frames, string at a lower tension, polarize them, and hit with as much spin as the...

playing with spin(open pattern or dense pattern at low tension)

Drop tension Or Gut mains / poly cross And Make your racket more polarized, weight on handle and at 12 o'clock. Gut/Poly at about 55/45 is perfect for an 18/20 95-98" racket.

Is that the red string???? :confused::confused:

    Dominik Thiem racquet ??

Nope. I'd say easily 90% of the top 200 head players use a pro stock racket. They don't all use a PT57a/e, but certainly they use a TGK model of some sort. They would have to be extremely pleased with the weight of a retail stick or just enjoy adding weight to it (making it not very...

You sure? That would be highly unusual.

    gasquet racquet????

I'm sure on retail one it is, not on the PT167a

    gasquet racquet????

Nope just a plain old radical MP 18/20 frame. You can't see through the hole.
  16. marosmith

    gasquet racquet????

Pretty sure all head pro stocks come at a 27.5" hairpin length and are cut down from there.
  17. marosmith

    gasquet racquet????

I have three PT167a's. It's a radical pro stock with the real flex point hole (although you can't see through it). Nothing even similar to an instinct tour xl.

Ill pass on the spin stick bandwagon...

But open patterns mean stiffer strings for longevity, higher tensions for control, and generally lower swing weights stock. You are too old for a players frame, but what does your arm think about that?

Ill pass on the spin stick bandwagon...

My game is extremely predicated on spin. With that said I use an 18/20 95.5" frame. I'm a believer in using strings that are spin friendly, and customizing a racket so it is polarized and head light. I can hit a heavier ball with my PT57a's than with an extreme, or a Wilson S racket (at least...

Maybe a TGK with the retail paint you think?

    Pro Stocks

The plush and soft feel is what makes the pt57a so good. I wanted to make PT280/630's work but there is no room to customize them at all. For that reason I just wait until I can find a beat up 57 and buy it. Same price as a new racket that way.

Trying gut for the first time

Yes, if you don't understand how racket weight and balance cause injuries I would suggest not posting in these threads.

Trying gut for the first time

Sorry for all the bad information you are getting. The primary cause of your pain is the absurdly light racket you are using, which is also almost even balanced and extended length. Regardless of what string you use this will be your problem. You need to add about one ounce of weight to the...
