Cindy! Don’t make me have to hold a tennis intervention.

Call for 2019 All TT Team Candidates

Vegas! You know, I’ve never been! I’m not sure why I thought you were in Southern. Philly is a possibility. I’m right outside DC, but grew up in eastern PA. My mom is still up that way.

An entire team walks off the court...need help with USTA rules

Be careful with entering full team defaults...in our section any team that ends the season in a position to advance can not do so if they benefited from a full team default. I’ve seen this come into play more than once.

    Week 3 of Nationals is a big one - 18+ 4.0 and 4.5, 40+ 3.0 and 3.5

    Tennis Club Recommendations in NOVA

I will also someone else's reply that most likely the best way to get onto a USTA team is to email the coordinator. They can give you a list of captains that need players. This may mean you spend a season on a weaker team, but if you play well against the stronger teams, you will get new...

There are also walls at Wakefield Park, off Braddock RD/495 and there used to be a really nice one at Nottoway Park in Vienna. The one at Jefferson is kinda short and small IMO.

How far do you drive in order to play?

Anywhere from two minutes to 90 depending on where my match is. 25 minutes for clinic. 2 minutes to get to the court at my building.

Look into Arlington Y. You might have a better chance just showing up to courts, Quincy Park is pretty active. Like McLovin says, not sure how many 4.5s are actually club members.

What should replace my 2012 PD?

Thanks so much everyone! Definitely have given me a lot of ideas, and I plan on making a good demo list from the suggestions here. I’m in the middle of moving so may put off the demoing until that is done. Interestingly enough, I played with the Ktour 95 back in the day, so while a 98 doesn’t...

What should replace my 2012 PD?

I keep thinking about Yonex! I have heard the same, that the newer PD are just not the same. Thanks!

"I joined a D.C. tennis league thinking I’d make a few friends. But this was no social club.."

Awww, this is a shame. First of all, this wasn’t DC USTA league (as others have noted). Bit of poor journalism there but maybe he didn’t know better. He should head down to Hains Point on a weekend. He would end up with more teams and numbers than he knows what to do with. I agree that...

What should replace my 2012 PD?

About me....3.5 female, play a lot, two handed bh, prefer baseline but volley when I have to, singles/dubs/lots of mixed. I absolutely love my 2012 Pure Drives, but I think it’s time to stick a fork in them. I string with PSGD 17g at 57-59. Anyone have any feedback on the newer Pure Drives...

You make the call...timed out match

Is this MOCO? You have to be up by 2 in the tb? Good to know. I can’t keep dc, moco, and nova straight. We had the good ole ‘does the point being played when the buzzer rings count’ argument just yesterday. DC, nova, and moco need to all be the same!

New location for Nationals: Oklahoma City

I’m not sure why they would use any other site than Orlando, that place is tennis nirvana. Totally not surprised that Dallas and Mobile aren’t on there, though Mobile was very welcoming...just too darn expensive to get there.

    2018 ratings being published

Actually, I don’t think as many bumped up (st least from people I know) that I would have thought. Only four from our 3.5 Nationals team went up. And one of those was kind of a surprise (at least to me). Of my nationals opponents, both singles gals I played bumped up. (I did not, I wasn’t...

    40+ mixed nationals

Yeah, if my partner and I had pulled out our court against Intermountain, I wouldn’t be sitting on a plane right now! We played a super solid and very nice 4.0/4.0 pair. Last court and deciding court, and even as tight and competitive as it was, there were plenty of ‘nice shot’ and ‘nice point’...

As I write this, I'm in the Mobile Regional airport, awaiting my puddle jumper to Atlanta and eventually back home. Some thoughts and observations... I faced two pairs that were 4.5F/3.5M. I know this combo is often discussed, especially in its relevance and effectiveness at the 8.0 level...

    18+ Mixed Nationals

Yeah, so my teammates started playing outdoor...we got stopped for about 15-20 minutes, went back out for about a half hour, then to the civic center where they played two games and a set TB. :-/. It was really a challenge to stay mentally focused through all of that.
