Everything falls apart when it matters...

I certainly was not enjoying myself when I was playing really bad during tryouts, otherwise I really do like playing. lol I use the term "inconsistent" in a wrong way, more so I really didn't have much control over my strokes. I would hit it back and just hope it go at least near to where I...

Everything falls apart when it matters...

I usually train everyday or at least every other day for 2 hours I train pretty hard, playing sets, court running, etc. I would agree that I train on mechanics (trying to hit with a certain form, fixing my form rather on focusing on hitting the shot) It seems that consistency was my biggest...

Everything falls apart when it matters...

Thing is it wasn't only my mental game but my physical game as well. I just couldn't hit the shots I normally could. A deep ground stroke was a prayer for me and barely any of my shots went past the service line and the ones that did were long. Drop shots sailed like floaters and all my angle...

Everything falls apart when it matters...

No, that's just their strategy because they just can't hit a good ball, so they resort to just pushing it back and they have fast feet and can sustain 30-40 ball rallies... They could possibly know that I'm not much of a junk-baller and use that to their advantage, but I know the strategy...

Everything falls apart when it matters...

I just don't understand, another year of hard work has just fell apart thanks to whatever reason during my high school tennis team tryouts. Some of you may be laughing inside but this team is pretty good and it means a lot to me and it was my priority when I started with tennis... I've been...

A forehand that both produces spin and pace

Yes I've been told this multiple times on here haha, I've been trying my hardest to improve the speed of my swing but the only thing that has helped is the "fluid lever" video in the OP. However, I'm not sure if that action is enough to produce a fast swing speed.

A forehand that both produces spin and pace

I think I found that a huge problem is that I was not stepping with my opposite foot into my forehand like I do with my backhand, so I'm going to try that out tonight

A forehand that both produces spin and pace

Hmm I'll try hitting like that, as I've seen it used in a couple of videos too, also here's an example of my vertical forehand that I was mentioning earlier, not much spin in this video because I was just rallying but I can produce a considerable amount https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8upw2wjxWhc

A forehand that both produces spin and pace

I've been wondering for a while now how to fix my forehand so that I can produce a nice amount of spin AND pace. It really is not working for me... First I started learning how to hit topspin, and when I did produce spin, I had a lot of it. Problem is, I had no pace whatsoever, all of my...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Gotcha, another question, does the "over the top" method work? As in hitting the ball at a 45 degree angle to go over the top of the ball but still drive it for pace, thus you produce topspin and pace. Some people say it doesnt while others teach the method itself... just wondering

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

I'm wondering, will changing to an Eastern forehand grip help me swing thru the ball better? I wouldn't need to worry about the upward swing to brush up on the ball and naturally the path of an eastern forehand is more horizontal right? I would lose a lot of the topspin factor but I'm curious if...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

I'm not sure if you've seen my second video but in that video (http://youtu.be/8upw2wjxWhc) I hit backhands at 1:18, 2:10, 2:17 (recovery shot), 2:40, 3:06, 3:25 I'm not sure either, but Indiana HS tennis takes place from summer to fall... not sure why And a huge part is tennis...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Ok now I understand, to help me to get to this point should I hit more like my backhand? My form was messed up but I believe I always hit through on my backhand and it creates a better shot than my forehand in terms of pace Also I use a Prince OS Spectrum 110 sq in racquet, it was my first...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Thank you for the advice! I'm going to have to take time with my racquet speed to really develop a consistent stroke rather than trying to just speed up a few times then hope it will automatically come as a given Something that gauges interest for me is the vertical swing, I've learned it...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Aha! That's another thing I missed: balance during the shot. I tend to keep my feet moving through a shot which probably removes a huge base for my shot in the first place Also as for the whacking thru the ball kind of motion, I was trying to practice some more relaxed tennis like some...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

UPDATE!!! Got a new video up: http://youtu.be/8upw2wjxWhc This was just some rallying with a friend of mine, different angle Sorry about the weird angle, I made a really shoddy setup by placing my water jug next to the fence than using the handle as a way to hold my phone up against the...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

High school team tennis tryouts I won't be facing opponents that are levels higher than me, but some of them have very well developed strokes and are pretty formidable opponents

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Magnut, what would you recommend I do to improve the quickest in 3 weeks? I hate to be that guy who is looking for quick easy results, after all tennis is a sport that involves a lot of patience, but in 3 weeks I need to be the best prepared as possible I just want to know major things I...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Thanks for being frank! Yes I agree with you, I think it's mainly my fault in trying to imitate everything I see rather than trying to understand the concepts and adapt... Any articles/videos/guides you can recommend for someone like me? I'm eager to learn because if I need to get rid of the...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Yes, racquet speed is one of my main priorities right now. I'm trying to focus on it but I still can't seem to speed it up consistently. I might hit a nice fast swing here and there and hit a nice shot, but I just can't ramp up my swingspeed to the point where every stroke flows at a fast...

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Thanks! I hit everyday and I hope the next tournament helps me out, I'll be playing doubles so I can work on my net game as well. Only thing is I don't want to reinforce the wrong techniques/bad habits while playing which is why I made this thread

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

Yeah I was kinda waiting for the ball to drop because of the height but I think I also do that on normal groundstrokes I'll try to post more videos but I used my coach's fence mount for this video, with a hitting partner I'd have to find a different setup.

My Tennis Forehand Video - WARNING: I'M BAD!

So recently I've been lurking on these forums for a while, posting threads here and there trying to get the best out of the tips here and improve my game. But for you guys to really see what's going on with my game, I decided to finally make a tennis forehand video...

    Inconsistency as an advantage?

Yeah other users pointed that out too, my bad, misunderstanding of the term The proper term would more likely be something along the lines of "sporadic"

    Inconsistency as an advantage?

So recently I've started to beat him, not by much, but I feel like I'm developing a better strategy to use against him to win consistently. Also, I guess I adopted some stuff from his style of play because from a few other opponents I beat they have told me that I display the traits of a pusher...

Integrating throwing motion with opposite arm

Hey guys, recently I've been seeing a lot of videos/discussion on here to imitate a relaxed throw for your serve to really help you improve your serve and get the mechanics right. I really like the idea of it, but unfortunately, my throwing arm is my left arm while I play tennis with my right...

    Yonex EZONE Ai 98?

After demoing all the racquets today, I actually was surprised at the racquet I liked the most I really enjoyed the Blade 98S, I felt I could add a lot of pace to my ball and still keep that same topspin without its sailing out. The Ai 98 Lite was way too flexy for my liking, probably should've...

    Yonex EZONE Ai 98?

Hey guys, another update, thanks for all the feedback! Today I tried out the Pure Drive Roddick and APD after receiving all 4 of the racquets. Based on my experience, I found the APD to help me a lot with spin on groundstrokes, the player I was hitting with noted that the balls I were hitting...
