Do shoe stretchers work on tennis shoes?

" I suspect the effect is similar to forcing someone with larger feet to wear your shoes for a week to loosen them up for you." Wow, I never thought I would read about this. My grandfather, who lived in the Chicago area, earned his living this way. We were never allowed to talk about it with...

    Not Happy With Wilson

Around a year ago I purchased several pair of Wilson shoes, using a new pair as one set ages. On my last pair the sole separated at the heel, so I sent them in for replacement. Just received a phone call from a rep who states "too bad", because they are over a year old. What??? Since when does...

    BLX 6.1 95 16x18 vs 18x20

Had the same experience as you, and did the switch....very happy I did, too. Significantly more control, with no noted decrease of power. And, a gut/poly combo has worked the best...

Is there any way to make the response of a racquet more predictable?

I had the same experience as you, then had the opportunity to hit with a pal's 18x20 version....perfection found! The supposed difference in power/spin (with the 16x18) is hardly notable, if at all, plus you can swing away and rarely sail one. Good luck.

    Strings for wilson six.one 95

After some period of time with the Roddick PD and the Organix 315, I have decided to make this my racquet of choice for the long haul. Love the on demand power, combined with precise control (especially around the net). Am using my usual set-up of gut mains/poly x's (55,53) and couldn't be more...

FULL REVIEW: Donnay Pro One 97 (pics)

"Also, if anyone has played with the BLX 6.1... please give in depth comparison to the Pro 1 and/or Dual Pro" Just got done checking out the BLX6.1 (2012)16x18 and the Donnay Pro One 16x19...both strung with gut/poly.... Decided to go with the Wilson. It felt better balanced, with less flex...

    Organix 8 315 & Natural Gut?

Have been using several different brands of gut mains (50#s), with Weiss Silverstring (48#) for many months now, and am very pleased with the power/control combo. And it actually seems to play fine, even as it ages.

Volkl Organix 8 315 Arm Friendly?

The racquet can play stiff, but does not 'feel' stiff. In fact, even with a history of tennis elbow I am able to play this with a gut/poly combo and experience no discomfort. Have used full bed X-1, too, but have found the hybrid is needed to tame some of the power and allow one to hit out. It...

    PERFORMAXX natural gut

Have about 3 weeks playing time with 'Classic Touch' 16ga, as hybrid with co-poly in two X-315's. Very satisfied with performance, and unable to see much difference between it and VS/Wilson, when used as a hybrid. The string was shipped promptly, arriving in about 6 days (East Coast to...

    Cost of USPS vs UPS?

I live in Hawaii and send boxes/racquets often. USPS Priority (using the two boxes taped together method) seems the quickest and least expensive method possible, due to their one price 'fixed rate' shipping charge to/from any State. Yes, tracking is pretty dismal, so I recommend 'delivery...

    PERFORMAXX natural gut

Have had their 'Classic' gut now for about two weeks (playing about 3-4x's/wk), strung in two X-315s, one hybrid with Silverstring, the other with ProLineII. I have used Wilson, Klip and VS gut in the past, and am unable to see any significant difference amongst them all (to the degree that I...

    Organix 8 315 Club

Can't help you with the measurements, but I recently picked up a 315 that arrived with Kirschbaum PL2 (16) @ 56, and it was very nice (and I usually dread poly)....just put in a gut/Kirsch combo...waiting to try it today, but would consider going back to full Kirsch, too, if it doesn't work out...

VS Natural Gut vs X One Biphase

Yup, agree with Para, as above. Am currently using trying X-1 mains (56) with Silverstring (52) crosses in an X8-300, and it is working out great. Am wondering, though, what will happen to the X1 when we get to about 6-8hrs and it goes launching...may switch to VS/Silverstring then. Will be...

    18g vs 17g x one biphase

Long-time user who has gone back and forth between both over the years, and cannot tell any difference in performance (I hit with spin)...have a good buddy who will only hit with 18ga (flat hitter). Go figure. Either way, just be aware that around 8-10 hrs it seems to loosen up and launch. But...

Labor Day - The end of the tennis season?

Damn, we NEVER get a break! Wreathed by flowering tropical plants and swaying palms, the Royal Kona Tennis Club has the relaxed feel of a resort club. Yet it is every bit a championship facility, featuring a well-stocked pro shop and four tournament-quality Latexite courts. Those that...

X1 Biphase tension for TE recovery

FWIW, I had a bout of TE several yrs ago....switched to X1 after recovery. Had used the BBDC for about the past yr, at 52#, and never felt even a twinge of discomfort. At that low tension, though, you will lose a little control, especially as the X1 degrades.............

    Volkl Organix Club

"Wow, I can't believe that 18g multi at that low tension isn't too powerful for you in this racquet. Also, Xone tends to get more powerful as it looses tension. Will be interested to see how this setup plays out for you." Played 4 sets today, with the strings clearly being well broken-in. As...

    Volkl Organix Club

"Farkus, could you compare the bbdc pro to the x8 and why do you seem to prefer it to the dc pro?" --power-wise, very similar. --DCPro= much less control, more 'springy'. --Pro feels 'bulky', especially around the net (though does have good put-away power)...'8' is simply like the...

    Volkl Organix Club

Organix 8-300 Been hitting with mine for about 2.5 wks now, and thought I would weigh in. Been using a Becker DC pro, with Technifibre X-1, 17ga at 52#s. Received the '8' racquet barely used, with VSgut/poly string job. Am not a fan of any poly, at any tension, because after about an hour's...

    Boris Becker Pro ???

Have been hitting with it for 3 months now, after PDR. As powerful as the PDR, feels a lot less stiff and no bad vibes, plenty of topspin, nice pace on flat serves and nice 'jump' on topspin 2nd serve. Awesome low and deep backhand slice. Very quick at net, with crisp put-away volleys. X-1...

Blake's racquet - Hybrid of Prince and Dunlop (Pic)

Was cruising the net a few minutes ago and found a PR blurb (dated 5/29) that stated that Blake had just signed a "long term" deal with Dunlop, and would be using an aerogel.
