In a recent interview, Fognini seemed quite unhappy with his compatriots’ decision, also revealing that the Olympic Games is one event he will never skip.
“Sinner also made a choice that I do not agree with. But for this shirt, I quartered myself,” said Fognini in the interview.
He also stated that because of Berrettini, he will not be able to play in the doubles category at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, especially since he never got a call.
“I would rather not comment on that. I cannot play doubles because of his withdrawal and I am still waiting for his call,” added the Italian player.

Berrettini just angry that he looks like a cheap suit compared to God Fogster.

"But for this shirt, I quartered myself,” said Fognini

Very odd phrasing. It is just a seven day luxurious bubble. No need to make drama.
Quartered? He is just a player, not a soldier being housed.

To be hanged, drawn and quartered became a statutory penalty for men convicted of high treason in the Kingdom of England from 1352. The convicted traitor was fastened to a hurdle, or wooden panel, and drawn by horse to the place of execution, where he was then hanged (almost to the point of death), emasculated, disembowelled, beheaded, and quartered (chopped into four pieces).
His remains would then often be displayed in prominent places across the country, such as London Bridge, to serve as a warning of the fate of traitors. For reasons of public decency, women convicted of high treason were instead burned at the stake.

I can't reconcile Fognini's typical attitude with Olympic spirit. Similar to the man down under.
He’s definitely a Jekyll/Hyde type with his fierce patriotism worn on his sleeve in what was the only yearly competition featuring national squads. Fog was a regular DC warrior under the traveling and spread out format, often traveling thousand of miles to play the maximum 3 rubbers in each tie.

A prime example: he played 13 hours in the 2018 1R tie at Japan, held outdoors despite freezing conditions in provincial Morioka (350 miles north of Tokyo in February?) a week after playing in sweltering AO conditions. He won all 3 matches (2 singles,1 dubs) in 10 sets of singles and 4 sets of dubs.

The singles in that tie was played against Sugita and Daniel. Many questioned why Nishikori was absent from Japan and instead chose a Challenger in SoCal the week before and a Dallas Challenger the week of the tie as his venues of choice for testing his surgically repaired wrist. That’s a startling juxtaposition in perceived on-court attitudes vs willingness to do whatever is necessary to represent country.

Hmm. Well, I of course applaud his commitment to his country, but since he's generally such an irreverent character, I wouldn't have expected him to give anyone a hard time about opting out of doing the honorable thing. Then again, he's also a family man, so I guess he's just a bundle of contradictions. Again, similar to the man from Canberra. That's my very last mention of Kyrgios.

Now that's a team name: "Le Lorenzi"
I am an English speaking person so it’s ISL personally and Italian may be a third or fourth language behind French and German. The language is at such a rusty level from using it most recently as a child while being a resident of Vicenza some 55 years ago. Thus, I had to use The Internetz for the proper masculine plural of “the.” If my source is correct the phrase would be I Lorenzos or I due Lorenzos

Ciao, amico!
