“I personally miss him, I miss him everywhere….. RF is important in every single tournament” - Rafael Nadal
How about that ? When there is thread going around about Fed being not mentioned - how great to see Rafa recognize and speaking what’s in his heart, respect to one GOAT to another. In some ways I think Rafa feels sad, the way he answered with sadness reflecting his face… I think Rafa only considered Roger to be his equal, now that Fed is off, he misses him, atleast he had the heart to say it out loud.
As a Rafa fan I havegot to say …. I miss Roger Federer too. I’ll simply leave it at that.

We miss the old Federer. No one wants to watch a 41 year old hanging on for dear life like Serena. Theres no importance if they are just going to be demolished in the first round everywhere. Yea I miss prime Agassi/Pete/Courier/Chang too. I loved that era. But I don't want to see them on tour though trying to relive the glory days

I think they're secret lovers really. Always have. Never a real personal rivalry there. Djokovic just turned them down. They always looked at Djoker as the "odd man out" for some reason. Never once in their rivalry was there a personal animosity/pissed off moment. Pete/Andre hated each other, Mac/Connors despised each other, Djoker hated everyone LOL.. Fed/Nadal.... Yea. They had no problem going after Djoker but they're own personal rivalry? I don't remember one bad word between them

I’d like to see them hang out. I guess they must just have that chemistry that happens sometimes. Like in that famous clip when they’re laughing together like school kids.

Well with one lazy eye - psychopath face, you can’t really blame others for putting helmet-head down, just look at the ugliness there - the ugly face, the ugly pusher style game…. What is there to love ? I don’t blame them.

Rafa was pissed in 2012 that Roger wasn't handling some tour issue well and called him out publicly in a pretty harsh way.

So there was a moment of bad blood. But it didn't last.

That's pretty bad ass.

But here is what is ominous for me as a fed fan waiting to see him back on tour:

Rafa - who knows Fed way better than me and has inside info I don't have did not say "I am glad he is coming back soon. It will be good to have him on tour in 2023."

He said, "we have to get used to this... time moves on."

This doesn't sound like a guy who's old buddy is telling him he's coming back. It sounds like a guy who knows his old buddy is done.

If Federer's playing, finally, OK.
If he's not playing, the Wimbledon will be a great Wimbledon, with or without him.

Interesting he says Fed is probably his biggest rival. Djokovic, however, clearly has said in the past that Nadal was his biggest rival.

To recap:
Fed: Claims biggest rival is Nadal
Nadal: Claims biggest rival is Fed
Djokovic: Claims biggest rival is Nadal

Don't know about you guys, but looks like the 3rd wheel is pretty clear on this one.

i miss fed too. djoker is a dick and wouldn't even shake his hand after rafa beat his ass at RG22. fed and rafa are truly friends.

Their obvious respect and warm friendship is one of the most redeeming phenomena in sports to me. Seriously.

It says goodwill and kindness are even greater than the greatest excellence producing full-throttle rivalry the sport has ever seen.

I miss him too.... He has been around the top of the game since I started watching tennis and has given me countless memorable matches. Hope he has one last swansong left.

No player knows Federer as well as Rafa does, and for the very first time I have a feeling that Rafa knows something that only Federer's closest friends and family know. That something folks is what nobody who loves tennis wants to hear, and especially Federer fans. He has told Rafa that he's done and I think you can see that in Rafa's face when he's talking about Roger in this press conference.

I don't see what you fear to see there. Yes, he said "we need to get used to it" after he was asked how it is to not have Roger in the draw. But from the context for me it sounds like he meant something like "We BOTH are older right now, so we both may not be in the draw for some Slams here and there."

And honestly, why should Roger tell Rafa something different when he always says he wants to be back for next season and likely even more?

I hope you are right, but I think we will get an announcement soon. Roger was putting out quite a few videos of him training the past few months and over the past few weeks to a month they have stopped. Something has happened with the knee again and he's done. I hope I'm wrong, but I sincerely think I'm right.

It's like Roger would be saying "hey guys!!!! remember me??? I know the majors are happening as we speak but LOOK AT ME!!!!"

I think he's media-savvy enough to know the right time to resume that is after Wimby finishes.

Still - that Rafa presser. Yikes.
