“I personally miss him, I miss him everywhere….. RF is important in every single tournament” - Rafael Nadal

I'm telling you from the way Nadal spoke and his facial expression Federer is done. I mean no Laver Cup or anything.
Yeah - He gave absolutely no hint of this being a recovery time.

Very different from Fed's interviews and promo stuff before June.

It was like "nail in the coffin" talk.

I was really shocked by it.

I'm starting to wonder if Federer had a horrible surgeon or something. I mean how many surgeries does it take to fix a meniscus and clean out some cartilage?

Yep exactly
The last interview I heard was after Rafa won RG.

In that interview, he still sounded very hopeful so maybe something happened since then.

That's what I'm telling you. In the last 3 weeks or so Fed has injured his knee again. I hope and pray he puts something out on instagram or something that makes me look like an idiot, but I'm afraid I'm actually right for once lol

We miss the old Federer. No one wants to watch a 41 year old hanging on for dear life like Serena. Theres no importance if they are just going to be demolished in the first round everywhere. Yea I miss prime Agassi/Pete/Courier/Chang too. I loved that era. But I don't want to see them on tour though trying to relive the glory days
I dont think a fully fit Federer even at age 41 would be demolished in the first round. I get what you are saying though.

I watched some of RF’s old pressers today. Missed him a lot. Good for Rafa to bring him up.

Rafa didn't bring Fed's name up. At yesterday's presser, some reporter asked Rafa the same question. "Do you miss Federer at Wimbledon yada yada yada". Rafa gave him a lovely answer, much the same as today's answer, about respecting Roger and yes he missed seeing him on tour after the wonderful rivalry they have had.

When same reporter asked the same question at today's presser, Rafa got a weary look on his face, not a sad look, but just weary of journalists asking the same stupid questions over and over again. And he caught on that the journalist was probably writing a book about Wimbledon and that's why Rafa answered that yes he missed Roger on tour, but not just at Wimbledon, at all the places they go to on tour.

Some of you folks are reading far too much into Rafa's answer.

He said, "we have to get used to this... time moves on."

This doesn't sound like a guy who's old buddy is telling him he's coming back. It sounds like a guy who knows his old buddy is done.

It sounds to me like a guy who realizes how old he's getting and has seen a lot of his good buddies like Tsonga and Monfils and Lopez and others all retire from the tour this year. Not everything's about Roger you know.

I actually believe Nadal. The field just looks completely depleted at the moment. Sad that it's still 100 years old Big3 who carry the sport.

Nadal doesn't miss him. Why would you miss a guy that would be another thorn in your side who can give you a lot of trouble? Nobody wants to be playing both Federer and Djokovic in the same tournament. Especially not at Wimbledon.

"Probably my greatest rival ever."

Nadal is so in your head lol this thread has nothing to do with Novak. Nadal just waxed him 2 weeks ago :D

Aww

Interesting he says Fed is probably his biggest rival. Djokovic, however, clearly has said in the past that Nadal was his biggest rival.

To recap:
Fed: Claims biggest rival is Nadal
Nadal: Claims biggest rival is Fed
Djokovic: Claims biggest rival is Nadal

Don't know about you guys, but looks like the 3rd wheel is pretty clear on this one.

Of course Djoko battles with Nadal are alot more physically demanding then his matches with Federer. Fed is also an easy opponent for Djko.

Nadal this time said probably. He used to say ‘Fed’ without any qualifiers. Probably just acknowledging that Djoko has become an equivalent rival.

We should appreciate that Nadal has two great rivalries, it solidifies his GOAT case as he’s never had a time where he’s been able to dominate the tour alone in his prime given he was still up against two GOATs.

Federer is done in Grand Slam tournaments since his painful defeat at Wimbledon 2019.
There the Swiss lost his last chance to achieve glory again.
Everyone knows that, even his most inveterate fans.
:sneaky:

Try to understand a post properly before opening your mouth. The face is supposed to represent triggered Djoko fans, not Nadal. Everyone got that except you.

“I personally miss him, I miss him everywhere….. RF is important in every single tournament” - Rafael Nadal
How about that ? When there is thread going around about Fed being not mentioned - how great to see Rafa recognize and speaking what’s in his heart, respect to one GOAT to another. In some ways I think Rafa feels sad, the way he answered with sadness reflecting his face… I think Rafa only considered Roger to be his equal, now that Fed is off, he misses him, atleast he had the heart to say it out loud.
As a Rafa fan I havegot to say …. I miss Roger Federer too. I’ll simply leave it at that.
Video : ( about Fed at 4:29 ) :
What amazes me is that some posters blow out of proportions Rafa's routine replies to questions reporters/journalists routinely asks him. o_O

Early on in their career Federer has called Rafa one-dimensional lol

I'm pretty sure around 2006 , Fed was sly hinting that Rafa was on stuff. There was alot of press around drugs in the sport at one time , and I'm sure he made shade about rafa being able to run all day etc.

He really struggled to adapt to both rafa and novak coming up and challenging his dominance.

Fed is a sore loser.

You are a fan of Federer dressed up in the "bromance" called "Fedal".
Come on!
What amazes me is that quite a lot of posters pretend to be Rafa fans, they trash talk Rafa and their actual comrades (aka Fed devotees) praise those posters for that and tell to the TTW readers that all Rafa fans should be like those trash talkers. I wonder what's the reason behind this comedy.

Federer will not be demolished in first rounds I promise you that.
There’s levels to this bud.

Envy, which is synonymous with the poverty that dwells in the human soul.
They are beings without any desire for transcendence, which is why they seek a fixed point in which to expel all their frustration.
Hence the envy, unable to stop being attracted to their object of desire.
:notworthy:

What is actually amazing is how people on TTW on their computer keyboards seem to know more about what’s in the hearts of these players than the players themselves.

I love how what Nadal says about and does with a colleague he’s shared some of the most important moments of his life with and does repeated charity work with and brings to keynote the most important work of his tennis life outside of winning majors and whose families consistently demonstrate their friendship …is all irrelevant - including the ATGs actual words of respect and friendship spoken almost continually for almost 20 years.

But somehow we know better.

“aka”?

The only person I know here who seriously calls Federer fans “Fed devotees” is you.

I frankly think it’s a strange and patronizing term.

You could just call them Federer fans.

And just as there kind and respectful Rafa fans there are unkind and disrespectful ones.

This is the same for all fan bases here.

Rafa fans are no exception.

Classic case of Projection.

Not to him, no. But we know Rafa is the master of selling a story - Roger's absence, his injuries...
Rafa does not sell stories, he replies to reporters/journalists whose job is to create & sell stories - they ask questions for that purpose. The reporter/journalist who asked Rafa a question about Fed, obviously received this task from his boss. Media makers are obviously still paid for mentioning Fed.

I already said who are "kind and respectful Rafa fans" in the eyes of Fed devotees - they are those who join Fed devotees to bash Rafa.

Nope.

Plenty of Fed fans like Rafa and vice versa.

And please stop with the “Fed devotee” term. I think it’s unkind and disrespectful.
