Rafa could easily be going for the Grand Slam if he had not choked vs Fed at the AO final and vs Muller at Wimbledon after being in commanding positions.

Like every slam in which Federer had to go through Roddick, Gonzalez, Baghdatis, Davydenko or Blake for the Slam title. F**king Nicholas Kiefer was his toughest Slam opponent back then... Enough said!!!

It was kind of an irritating response. Like a defeated attitude. Federer's level was ok but had he had not choked that tiebreaker he likely would have goned on to win the match.

I can't agree. Federer looked terrible this whole tournament and I think Nadal would have demolished him. Federer has to be at 100% to beat Nadal in best of five off clay.

I'm a Fedal fan but only want to see them compete when they are both playing their best.

The serve is as good but the movement isn't the same. No one in this draw was good enough to really take him to the limit.

Querrey might have had a shot if he had been in the zone. Maybe Anderson can for a set or two but doubt he can really tame the Bull.

no point in arguing, no one iirc. But Fed beat 3 top-10 players on his way to the US Open title. How many top-20 players is Rafa going to beat?
 
Some trolls on here need to find purpose, a real purpose, in their lives. Come on people, time to stop living vicariously through tennis players who do not know you exist and never will. The constant slinging of crap between some people on here is so off-putting. I'm talking about a rather vocal minority here.

So many anti-Nadal trolls in here tonight, should be celebrating the last spark of Fedal dominance before it fades to black forever. If you troll in jest, this message is not aimed at you. It's aimed at the people that get legitimately rustled at a tennis match (like, really unhealthily and unnaturally so). And the GOAT debate that you care about more than the players themselves do.

Just enjoy the tennis people..and I'm not trying to be sanctimonious or anything as I used to be one of the people overly reliant on others to make me happy in sports...that's not how it works and you'll only cause yourself distress trying that approach.

lol typical sampras fans. also that was not a choke, fed should have never allowed it to go to 5th set and buddy he had bps in every one of nadal's serves in that final set and decided instead of freaking out like he usually does against nadal to go for it and won. how any sane person say he choked against fed is beyond me. also iirc muller was up 2-0 js. rme at commanding positions

The FO 2017 for Nadal and Wimbledon 2017 for Federer were favorable draws too. What about the USO 2016 for Djokovic? Honestly, for me the draw arguments get tiresome. History will only look at the titles.
 
If he wins the USO this year, he will solidify his status as the 2nd best of all time and can then focus on catching Federer. Its absolutely possible to get to 20 majors considering his age and what he has shown overall this year.

Federer wouldn't have won with his garbage footwork but it would have been a hell of a lot closer than this and he wouldn't have allowed Rafa to dictate anywhere near as much. At least Federer's serve was good this tournament.

1 was a slam winner, no matter what people say, and those were probably still seeded much higher

He'll get more than that but he won't win! I think he takes Nadal to at least one tiebreak. Hopefully he can win a set but seriously don't think he has the game to beat Nadal in a Best of 5.
Again, I'd love for us to be wrong!

Really? I thought his serve was trash tbh. He got broken at will against pretty pedestrian opponents. And he got broken in almost all of the pressure games to hold too.

It's pretty damn important because a draw or era condition can legitimately make some players look better than others. How many USO's would Borg have if Mac had been poor in his two finals instead of brilliant? Switch Nadal and Borg's places at the USO and who has how many?

This stuff is pretty important and you can't just count up titles, or else we turn into NFL and NBA fans (which is even more nonsensical because at least tennis is individual).
