honestly you have to break it up.
Strictly Open Era (if not you definitly have to include Renshaw, Laver etc.)
5 men.
1 Sampras
2 Fed/Borg
3 Fed/Borg
4 McEnroe
5 Becker

Really can't decide take your pick, Edberg is a close 6.
Once again strictly open era.
5 women.
1. Navratilova
2. Graf
3. King
4. V. Williams
5. Court

You could even break it up further with open era pre slow grass/heavy tennis balls and open era slow grass/heavy tennis balls.

Not sure how Sampras, Becker, and McEnroe would do today, and not sure how Federer would do back then.

This list is good, the men are spot on and for the women...so many had success on the grass of Wimby is really hard...I would also consider Dorothea Lambert Chambers..she did win 7 Wimbledons, but the women you listed are good as well

Surely if Margaret Court, with her 3 Wimbledon singles titles and 5 total finals is on the list of more than one person who posted, then surely Evert should be as well with HER 3 Wimbledon singles titles and 10 total final appearances.

Personally I don't think either Court or Evert is in the top 5.

This would be my list.

Men

1. Sampras/Renshaw (tied for most men's singles titles with 7)
2. Federer
3. Borg
4. McEnroe
5. Laver (would be higher if he had been able to play more)

Women

1. Navratilova - 9
2. Wills Moody - 8
3. Graf - 7
4. Lenglen - 6
5. King - 6

Fair list, but remember in Renshaw's day defending champions had an automatic bye into the final. Pete had to go through the field.

For the most part, I grew up watching Sampras, Federer, Becker, and Edberg.

1) Pete Sampras - 100% wins in finals.
2) Borg - 3 straight years of clay-grass double.
3) Federer
4) McEnroe
5) Becker/Edberg

Sampras should be number 1 on everyone's list he never lost a Wimby final, he was the perfect grass court player with his serve net coverage and athletism.

That was me, I probably was thinking Suzanne Lenglen. I know Court won 12 of her 24 slams in Australia, and she just pooped into my head.

hard to go past sampras with 7 titles, next in line borg or federer.
laver should be up there also...would take becker over mcenroe, both 3 time champs but becker reached the final on 7 occasions compared to 5 from mac.
