12 year old vs you know who

Hats off to Ben for keeping himself out there and enjoying/playing tennis. Most players would not even play against a young Junior like that, just for fear of the stigma of losing (but still talk about how they would beat them). I watched this the other day and I really don't think Ben played as well as he normally does, but then I don't think the kid was going all out either.

In comparison, I watched Ben play Simon Serves ( a 4.0 ) and again you can see how Ben has been so steady in his rating.

Losing to a junior is no big deal and moreover you can adopt a fatherly attitude and joke about it and give him some tip like hitting with more topspin.

What hurts is losing to Fat Bobs your age and older.

I find it fascinating that (many? majority?) people actually fear losing. What's so bad about losing in recreation? Rec tennis level is literally artificially constructed which means your wins and loses are also artificially constructed.

One time I invited a newly retired man to play in our group, maybe in a singles with some guy his age when there wasn't enough people for dubs. He adamantly refused singles saying he's worried if he loses, it'll be on record for life!

I guess it depends on your definition of "from scratch." It's almost impossible to completely avoid any exposure whatsoever to a mainstream sport growing up.

For an apt comparison, let's take golf. I have been to a driving range and I have played mini golf. I have not, however, taken any golf lessons or played an actual round of golf in my life. If I were to start doing those things now, I think it would be considered starting from scratch by most people's definition.
The SRSH trolling.

You've never ridden a horse I see. When you're heading towards a fence that can be taller than you are on an animal only slightly designed for leaping you really do need a good built in rangefinder relative to speed etc.
I have also ridden several horses, I find them to be unfriendly beasts and would rather use a modern vehicle.

Why not outfit the horse with GPS?

Suppose you couldn't have someone sitting on your back, forcing you to transport them, without developing some kind of opinion about them too. Though, Sam seems to get along with them.

Someone has not learned anything from western movies.

Even dead, unimportant guys can ride a horse back to their base to give a message. There's no less skill required than that to ride a horse.

What about making the horse cross hurdles? Or will you say that only the horse is developing foot eye coordination?
The horse hoof to eye coordination starts at birth and only gets better as they hurdle. The rider is there solely to enforce the work.

Sam is 150 years old living in a 30 year old body. Although he actually looks old too. I remember seeing him on a dating show (million$ matchmaker) 10 plus years ago and thinking now that he is retired from tennis he finally has time to date and ride horses.

Usually forward, but you can ride leaning to the left or right. Just don’t lean back!
Leaning back is Steeplechase jockey or Eventer technique. Crucial; in some scenarios. Some used to call that "backdoor bandit" but the term has fallen out of favor for some reason.

They are always tied on and in rigor mortis. Two scenarios not sought after by the living.

Want to say thank you to MEP for being willing to play the 12 Year Old first on YouTube. MEP said yes to the match without hesitation. Also, the 12 YO was thrilled and excited to meet MEP - thank you MEP for doing this.

We’ve set up more matches for 12 Year Old TennisTroll. Curious to see how he competes against different styles.
