14-year-old Felix Auger Aliassime writing Tennis History!!

The kid can play but I'll be impressed if he can make the top 50 as a teenager. Look at Filip Peliwo, another product of the Canadian tennis pipeline. He was the ITF junior world champ in 2012 at age 18 and made all four finals of the junior slams (winning two of the four). Now he's losing at futures events in Tunisia to guys ranked 668 and 927 in the world. It's simply too early to tell how the kid will do against real competition and whether or not his game will plateau.
I'm officially impressed by what I saw in the video, but you're completely right.

After all, this is the last 14 year old to qualify for a main challenger draw: Guilherme Clezar.
I personally don't remember that guy, but just checked him out. ATP record: 0-8

Conclusion: It's way too early to say anything. His body seems quite developed already, will he grow too big in a few years time? We don't know.

Astonishing ability. The way he was dominating the points with power reminds me a lot of Andre Agassi.

His overhead and volleys were Peter Sampras.

Will be very surprised if he doesn't make it at least into the top 20.

Very very impressed with this kid. He's got some great shots and I love his footwork. So much can still go wrong with someone so young but I've definitely got my fingers crossed for him to do well and I'll definitely be following him. Maybe I'll have another Vasek to cheer for. :)

He has beautiful eyebrows.

He beat Guccione? That's a scalp for anyone of such a young age, especially if the Gucch was serving well.

I love how these forehands look on landing from this camera angle. The explosion off the court.

Wolmarans can play too... he's one of those grizzled veterans of the challengers/futures circuit. He always came to the challenger at my home club and qualified... then he'd be gassed and fall apart in the main draw.

Seeing as this kid withdrew and Wolmarans got back in the main draw, one message is clear.

Even when he doesn't qualify, Wolmarans qualifies.

OMG, that one long rally where the kid got the break in the 2nd set! I think it was over 40 shots, ended with a pounding forehand followed by a dropshot! Dull times in tennis are soon over, this kiddo already got the X-factor (like Fedal) in his game at age of just 14. Bring it on!

he plays effortless and flows in the court like Federer

Exactly, the footwork is a joy to watch! And pay attention to his return of serve ready position. That stance is so wide, exactly like it should be. I also enjoy the way how he rotates the back leg forward on the backhand. His style is just full of that FLOW!

Two weaknesses: Errors on short/low balls and lack of defensive slice. The errors on short balls make him lose his serve a bit too often.

His game has great buoyancy. Not only does he flow but he bounces - his tennis comes in waves and like water.

Why is Tennis Canada bringing out so much talent these days....Raonic, Bouchard, Poppisipil, Peliwo, and AugerAli......
Stephanie girl who retired as well :(

A 14 year-old child playing a challenger event isn't good for men's tennis or that young man's development. Absolutely nothing wrong with allowing his game and body to better mature for the rigors of professional tennis at a later date.

What is wrong with you people? 14 year-old children shouldn't be allowed to play challenger events.

Can't believe... I'm ... agreeing with something ANGIE posted. What is the world coming to? Yah I'd be concerned about the burden he's putting on his body this early. Gotta develop naturally. That said, he's super talented. Hope to see him achieving great things.

Was a local challenger. His team has made it clear that the focus will be juniors and they won't rush him. He went through qualifiers and then won some rounds before losing in a deciding set to #140 Nishioka.

His real ranking, not his official ATP ranking looks to be around the 200 mark I'm guessing.

Short of getting fat or injured its hard to see this kid not making it close to the top.

He takes volleys and overheads out the air with absolute contempt.

His game is nothing like Federer's. His shots somewhat resemble Nishikori's, but his game is more or less a typical junior game. To the extent he is Nishikori in a bigger body, he should have a successful professional career in the future. The early success he is having right now, though, he owes solely to his body being unusually strong and mature for his age. That advantage may very well go away when his peers catch up with him in the physical strength and maturity, which will undoubtedly happen.

In case you haven't noticed, Ali is beating GROWN MEN, some of which are veterans on the challenger tour. He isn't beating them because he had a quick growth spurt and has a temporary advantage. These are players who are already bigger than him.

I don't think it's going to mean much with him starting this early in terms of his health. If anything, his body will grow into his game and learn to adapt better. Saying he;s too young to play at this level is like saying it's too young to play High School Basketball if you want to be in the NBA. Tennis is a sport where often times if you don't show signs at the pro level by 16, 17, you're going to struggle for sponsors.

Agassi qualified for the U.S. Open at age 16. At 17 he was considered a threat going into his 3rd year on the tour. He would make his first Slam Final at age 20 and his last at age 35.

he certainly is a physical early bloomer and won't improve as much as other 14 yo Players but don't Forget he is beating adult men already.

we Need to wait a Little though. gasquet has taken a set of the FO Champion of that year at Age 15 but while he has become a consistent top10-15 Player he never became a slam threat. Let's see if that guy even becomes as good as gasquet (who was top300 at Age 15). he might become better than gasquet or he might be worse, there are so many factors involved.

we can say that he is a great Talent though, but even making the top30 is a very big achievement and extremely hard to do.

At 15 Rafa beat the defending FO champion Costa in a Masters tournament as well as #49 Karol Kucera and then went on a couple of weeks later in the next Masters to beat #44 Mathieu and #4 Moya. Rafa went on to have a pretty good career. Maybe Felix will be more like him than Gasquet. We'll just have to wait and see but he sure looked good last week.

If he's that good at 14, what can we expect from him when he's 18, even, not to mention in his 20's?

I'm gonna watch how this kid does in the future.

of course he could be better than gasquet. he could even be better than nadal or federer, or he could be worse than gasquet.

we can say that he is a great Talent but we should wait a Little longer before we call him the next nadal.
