18 x 20 Racquet Comparisions

Hi guys, my main stick these days has been the KBlade Tour. I realized lately I've always gravitated towards the control of 18 x 20 string pattern racquets, starting out with the Flexpoint Prestige MP, to the Wilson NBlade 98, and now to the KBlade Tour.

My question is, how does the 18 x 20 Dunlop Aerogel 200 compare to the KBlade Tour?

I'm looking for a little more stabilty and weight behind my shots and I was wondering if the AG 200 was worth a try.

Thanks.

i can't really speak for either frame, so you can easily discredit my opinion, but the kblade tour should have more stability and weight behind it simply because of it's swingweight and static weight. i doubt the AG 200 would be more solid than the kblade tour, except in forgiveness on mishits.

but again, i am by no means an authority. but i do play with nxg mid's, which are somewhat similar to the kblade, and i have played with the AG200, and i found that my nxg's were more stable off the ground.

Personally I like the KBT much more. My main reason is feel, the AG200 simply had none, there for I hated it. Try adding weight to one of your Blades before changing.

I thought that the Kblade was too light and nowhere near as solid as the AG200.
I currently play the AG 200 and find it better every time out on the court. I have one strung with full gut, one with a poly/syn hybrid and one strung with full poly and I like all three set ups equally. The Full gut is easiest on my shoulder, but so far I have found this frame a suitable upgrade to the 200GMW.

My new Kblade is 11.7 ounces strung. Not to light, my Nsix-One 95 strung are 12.5 ounces.

I really like the flex on the Kblade. Nice racket and not as stiff as the Kblade tour.

the tecnifibre TF335 18X20 has plenty of weight behind it and tons of feel, also the BB11 (heavy) has plenty of heft... Maybe give one of those a try

If I bought a racquet and it was that far off spec Id be pretty angry, but thats just me:):):)

Actually it was right on spec. It is listed as a 10.7 ounce racket unstrung, which I verified on a digital postal scale. Strung, it was 11.3 ounces, leather grip 11.5 ounces, and with an over grip 11.7 ounces. I verified 4 other Kblades and all were identical. I think the newer Wilson’s are right on specification. Also many rackets weigh different based on grip size. The large the grip, the more they weigh. My grip size is 4 1/2.

aerogel 200 is as solid as a rock. I would have kept it had it not been a little high for me in swingweight. Good plow through and very very stable.

Oh ok that explains it:oops: Still I personally think 11.7 is light also just wondering how hl are your blades?

i agree with basil here. if anything i prefer the ag200 over the mw 200g due to sheer spin potential. The feel of the mw is awesome but i really have to work the mw correctly to get that spin. as for flat shot gotta love that mw. but i dont hit flat the majority of the time, which is probably the biggest problem i have using the mw. but the ag 200 is the racquet closest to the mw, that i've tried anyway.

I played with both so here is my 2 cents:

Power: Aerogel 200 has more especially on the serve. In fact this is the best serving racquet I ever used, effortless power, you don't even have to try very hard. For the KBlade Tour you have to bring your own power.

Comfort: The Aerogel is very soft and buttery, very comfy, very nice feel. The KBlade Tour is stiffer but not really stiff, more like medium range, shouldn't give arm problems to most people. The feel is very muted.

Stability: The Aerogel is very solid and stable, large sweetspot, feels like a rock, reminds me of the nCode 95. In fact I would say that the Aerogel 200, along with the nCode 95 and 90, is the most solid and stable racquet I ever played with. The KBlade Tour doesn't have enough mass in the head to be as stable as the Aerogel 200 or the nCode 95 but it's still a fairly stable racquet and some lead tape would probably improve things. For me the Aerogel 200 doesn't need any lead tape or customization of any kind, it plays great bone stock.

Control: Aerogel 200 has very good control, it's one of those rare racquets that have plenty of power on the serve but it's still low power on the groundstrokes. The KBlade Tour is practically a control freak, almost imposible to hit long if you don't open your racquet face, good spin despite the tight string pattern. If it's control you're looking for, then the KBlade Tour should be at the top of your list. The drawback is that it's hard to generate power on the first serve.

As you might have guessed, I really liked the Aerogel 200, and if Dunlop cuts the price to bellow $100, like they did with their old series, I'll pull the trigger.

when also deciding between the kbt and the ag 200, i just fouond the 200 to be alot more stable, especially on serves. the blade was better at the net for me. i ended up with the 200 because i felt it was more all around for my game

Yes, the low swingweight of the KBlade Tour makes it feel a little flimsy. Did I mention that the Aerogel serves bombs?:)
