1h bh help

i recently switched from a 2h bh to a 1h bh, but as i noticed my 1h bh are either hitting the net, flying high, or almost like a lob any advice?

Remember to keep your weight forward (ie. don't be falling back as you hit), make sure your footwork is good, and that you are getting in the right position so you can hit out in front. Try to recognize that you will have to hit a backhand early and get prepared so you don't get rushed/jammed and flail at the stroke.

You could also try watching some of the top pro one-handers, I did and my backhand evolved into a Gasquet-ish stroke, especially on the backswing. But my stroke is much better now.

You have to hit the 1HBH much further out in front of your body than the 2HBH. Also, you have to turn your shoulders and body to the side more before hitting the 1HBH than the 2HBH. Make sure your front foot is in the direction of where you want to hit the ball and that both feet are lined up more perpendicular than parallel to the net.

Are you hitting sliced BHs, topspin BHs or both? Try to master the slice first before attempting 1h BH topspin shots -- you can still use your 2-hander for topspin shots for now. At contact, the racket face should only be slightly open for a sliced shot unless you intend to hit a drop shot or intend to hit the ball high over the net. It will take a bit of practice to find the optimum angle of the racket face at contact.

im using the eastern extreme grip and i dont think my timing is quite right yet, sometimes i hit a smooth clean bh sometimes i sort of lob it and sometimes the ball hit the net, mostly the balls fly out high. so i guess i should get my timing down?

Hit lots and lots of em. Resolve to grip and rip it especially in matches. Even if it costs you the match. Taking this sort of risk will help you to improve much faster. When I was developing mine, I resorted to my old slice and "pushed" backhand, and made very little improvement. After deciding to just go for it, something clicked and it has become even more consistent than my FH.

I'd like to add that you should keep your swing-speed up, unless you are blocking back a serve or something of the same nature.

im getting most of my bh in now. i think it was my timing that was messing me up. i can hit like 3 out of 5 balls in play.. but im improvin
