Can someone explain how TCU is #8? Seems wayyy low.

This week's rankings were based on each team's best 4 wins and all losses - all the teams ahead of them had better wins and better losses.

TCU's best 4 wins - #9 USC, #12 Illinois, #15 Oklahoma State, #38 San Diego State. Losses to #2 Virginia and #18 California

TCU will have a chance to move up because it plays Northwestern and Illinois on the road this week.

Top 5 are I think the true top 5, they will all be there in the end. I think Oklahoma could get there in the top 5 ....Still not sold on A&M or TT in the top 10, but they both have had some good wins to get them there. Would also say ETSU is a team usually ranked in the lower half, now missing. South Carolina has also fallen to nowhere land, no pulse...And looking at history whats going on with Auburn and Tennessee, usually up top historically now average....Georgia Tech has also dipped, I thought they were supposed to be pretty good this year with Eubanks, they are close to Georgia State!

UCSB won vs Louisville on neutral site and vs former #27 SDSU; as Lville dropped now out of the Rankings and SDSU dropped down to #65..UCSB will fall a lot next Rankings
they also won @ Pepperdine, who dropped out of the Rankings now

the UCSB ranking is a 1-week fluke and they should fall to 45-60 in next Rankings i think

Unless Harris is back and Alvarez gets back to form, Oklahoma is at best a top 15 team. I don't see them as top 5.

The only teams UCSB have lost to are Georgia, Texas, and Oregon.

Oregon was 7-0, but when you look at the scoreline, two matches ended in 10 points tiebreakers and another two ended in 7-6 sets which could have easily gone 3. So wouldn't consider that 'crushed' by any means. AND played indoors which is a huge advantage against an outdoor SoCal team.
(All 9 of their matches have been on the road)

When looking at their schedule, they could easily win out and go 20-3. Highest ranked remaining matches are Davis and Irvine.

They were undefeated at home last year, have almost all home matches for rest of year, and aren't playing anyone currently ranked higher than 45 for rest of season.

Yes, 27 is very high and it will drop a little as some of the teams they beat have fallen back in the rankings but I definitely can't see them dropping past the top 40 if they win out on the season and beat all 9 ranked teams they played.
- SDSU will definitely rise back up in the rankings
- Washington will stay high
- Pepperdine won't stay out of the rankings
- Louisville will come back after conference play.

Their program has changed within the past 5 years, they have the 15th best division 1 recruiting class and are only losing 1 starting senior next year. One of the best mid-majors this year and for a few years to come.

a number of SEC and ACC teams are underperforming. South Carolina is down at 61 and it will be hard for them to jump back up, but I imagine that Goffi will continue to get praise for some reason. Auburn at 48 but that is actually high for them. They are probably one of the worst SEC teams and will start piling up the losses very soon. Look at Alabama being unranked. They were supposed to be much improved this year.

So far UNC has way exceeded my expectations, I am not convinced they can keep it up but it will be fun watching.

I anticipate a good deal of change within the top 25 this spring. There's still a number of over ranked and under ranked teams there IMO. Won't name them but like you, will have fun watching.

oops, didn't see them there (South Carolina). Your right, lots of underperforming teams. Yes, its been a few years since Auburn and Tennessee where anywhere near the top, but they both have a rich tradition of tennis, just seems to have gone away. Vanderbilt is also average to me. And Bama should be better; aaw them play on TV they looked really weak. When I grew up in the late 80's 90's Clemson was always a power house. I remember playing a tournament there in 91' and being impressed with the team and facilities. It makes me sad to see them where they are at. Actually knew Chuck Mccuen way back when, he did wonders for the Georgia State program so I'm sure its just an off year. And Gerogia Tech is definitely under performing, they should have been much better.

SEC is way down this year when you look at the conference as a whole. I am not overly impressed with anyone outside of Texas A&M. I originally thought maybe Georgia, Florida and Ole Miss might be up there as well, but I am not sure now.

Florida is at 41 and they are going to be hard pressed to get into the top 16 now with the schedule they have left. Looks like they are going to be one of those teams that is a victim of bad scheduling. I guess they assumed they would qualify for the national indoors and they didn't anticipate their match vs UCLA being cancelled but now they only have a few chances to boost their rankings up a lot. Since none of the SEC teams are that highly ranked right now, the Gators will have to upset A&M or beat UGA and Ole Miss and avoid losses to teams around them like LSU or Miss State. Going to be tough, especially for a team that has not shown the killer instinct to finish yet.

That's going to be a problem for Ole Miss, because Baylor is now 34. They will only have a select few chances to improve as well. They too assumed they would qualify for indoors and didn't.

I saw Florida play OSU, they are a year away. A good team but hard pressed to get in the top 20. I still think they could upset someone at the SEC tournament or NCAA if they get there. A&M didn't look like a top 10 team to me, but they beat up on Illinois and have a few other good wins. UGA is just beat up, not playing great. Bad indoor event, hard to tell if they will rebound. Other SEC teams seem ok, but non look like they will take over this year.

Some coaches manipulate the schedule better than others. This has killed Stanford the past few seasons. They were probably better than their ranking but did not schedule enough matches vs 15-40 teams. Too many vs unranked teams and then the tough task of pulling off upsets against UCLA or USC. SEC,ACC and Big Ten teams will have enough conference chances to get those type of wins but Big 12 and Pac 12 teams must schedule smartly OOC due to the smaller sizes of the conference.

USF has done a great job of scheduling to keep themselves in the top 20. Their conference is pretty good but not as strong as the power 5 overall so they must schedule good teams in the non-conference season

Very true. However they just lost to #70 Pacific 4-3
