EASTBOURNE, England -- Aleksandra Wozniak had no trouble in her quarter-final match at the Eastbourne Championships, while Frank Dancevic had all he could handle in his.

For both Canadians, it was exactly the way they wanted it.

Wozniak and Dancevic continued their march through the Wimbledon tuneup tournament Thursday, advancing to the semifinals with victories that couldn't have been more different.

Wozniak, of Blainville, Que., crushed Russian qualifier Vera Dushevina 6-1, 6-0 in a match that took just 45 minutes. The 23rd-ranked Wozniak won a whopping 51 of the 69 points in the match, and broke every one of Dushevina's service games.

With a rematch against world No. 9 Caroline Wozniacki looming, Wozniak was thrilled to finish things up early Thursday.

"Now I'll be ready and fresh for (Friday) and give it all out on the court," said Wozniak. "It was a pretty quick one, and I played really good. I'm ready for (Friday)."

Following on the heels of victories over defending French Open finalist Svetlana Kuznetsova and China's Jie Zheng, a semifinalist at Wimbledon last year, Wozniak said she has never felt more confident in her game -- particularly her serve.

"All the matches I've played lately have given me a lot more confidence with my serve," said Wozniak. "I practice my serve and return a lot, and each match I'm doing a much better job at handling everything."

Pound Cat are you a Canuck like me?.I'm in T.O.
Frank was voted on this board as one of the biggest underachievers. His game suits the grass nicely.Santoro took him out last year at a final at the hall of Fame Grass court.
Wozzy hit's the ball like Capri some days'.Eventually when she gets into top shape she can be threat to all the top ten.
It would be nice if this year they can make it past the first round a wimby.

Yeah Canadian tennis has been pretty dead. Surprising, considering how popular the game is around here, and how many people actually play it.

Yes I'm Canadian. ..Ottawa formerly TO for many years

It may be coming together for him again.. He did have a moment or 2 of glory. and then I think he had injuries.

Wozniak is s strong player who enjoys the big stage and has no fear.

Yeah, go Dancevic! I've always liked his style but hadn't heard from him in a while. Glad to hear he's doing well.

is this 50% canadian allowed to be happy to?

of course! are you an ex-pat? or were you born in portugal, Gorecki? ........ i was looking at the map of porutgal the other day. looks like a lovely country, situated as it is on the ocean .... do you happen to know how the portuguese language developed? it sounds (to a foreigner) almost like a combination of french, spanish, latin) ... is there any beach-front property available???! :)

my mother is canadian (portuguese descent)... and my brothers are living in TO
toronto is a second home away from home to me

yes... we have wonderfull beaches and loads of beach front properties

a high end modern architecture construction with beach front ranges from 250k to 600k dollars...

how about that for a deal?:)

as for our language, it developed like the spanish... in fact we share about 90% of the vocabulary... the difference is the closed pronountiation that makes i sound closer to french!

the general opinion is that it was great for us, but you should know that we have been in the EU (former CEE) since the 80's... so we are not really the freshmen of the union...

Great news for dancevic, I've always liked his all court game. Also I'm glad to see tursunov in the final as well, it's been a while since I've seen him deep in a tournament
