20-20-18 might be the end.

First, Federer is a living legend so let's get this out of the way...

Now, the last 2 slams with Nadal and Djokovic winning remind me of Sampras and Agassi's last 2 slams.

Sampras defeated Agassi in the 2002 USO final and it was his last slam. You could see that Agassi was very crushed. Agassi however didn't want to go out like that and it motivated him to win the next slam the 2003 AO against a nobody Schuttler. You could see the relief on Agassi's face. It was both their last slams.

Nadal defeated Djokovic in the 2020 FO final. You could see that Djokovic was very crushed. Djokovic however didn't want to go out like that and it motivated him to win the next slam the 2021 AO against a nobody Medvedev. You could see the relief on Djokovic's face.

This might be the end of an era.

The reality is that Djoker will likely retire with the Slam record, alone. The only thing that will stop that is younger players beating him at a Slam, or some silly DQ ... As much as I want Fed to win one more and retire with the most, I don't think it will happen. I still do think, even though it seems he got spanked today, that Med will be the guy to do this.

After how utterly, absolutely, and completely wrong you have been about Novak- a record that would have led other, lesser, trolls to leave this site- you still find the will to continue to ridicule yourself, even knowing that what few took you seriously no longer do.

I salute you sir!

Djokovic became the HC GOAT today and put on an emphatic performance against a player who was 20-0 coming in, and he straight set him.

While it might be the end, I would say as of right now, I highly doubt it. More big 3 slams are incoming.

I tend to agree.

Nadal and Djoker look nowhere near relinquishing control of their favourite slams, and remain the top 2 players on Earth.

This is very different from Pete at the USO in 2002, who secured what was obviously a final magical slam title. Andre at the AO in 2003 is more similar to Nole and Nadal now, as he was still a top contender across the tour.

Look at Serena, you never know. She went from winning slams consistently to only reaching SF and F.

Djokovic just took AO again after 2020 and all the things hes gone through and you said its last slam?I cant believe how much mental strength he has.

Pretty much the point I am making. Pete had not win a title since W 2000, before he won USO 2002, that is over two years without a title win. It is not the same as these guys.

Also I forgot to add that Agassi has 8 slams and Djokovic 18. Both have the number 8. It's yet another observation in favor of my theory. (y)

Why you thinking so far ahead? Just enjoy todays win. Next tournament for nole is hopefully IW.
Indian wells is cancelled. I think Novak should take a rest now. Conserve his energy and maybe play Miami. I agree I am looking too far ahead. To be honest another Wimbledon would be amazing enough. Us open maybe tough to do again as he’s not as strong there and external factors affect him more but it was more a hope. You right though best to stay grounded. You are right it’s best to enjoy today’s win as nothing is guaranteed in sport and especially after what happened last year and in this tournament for Djoko.

Yea mate fantastic victory today and lets enjoy that. What happens in the next slams lets see but obviously Djoko has a good chance in any tournament he enters. But nothing is a given.

I think Djokovic can still win a few and will probably hold the record of most slams, but I expect the coming slams to be not as easy for him as this one, with healthy main rivals.

Yeah this victory is sweeter because of what happened before. You are right and I just hope he rests up and his muscle tear heals up before he next takes to the court. Recovery and rest is essential now.

I did say many times that he might still have only 1 more slam in him. So it was 17 with a maximum of 18. (y)

Let's please not pretend he had any kind of muscle tear. Unless his muscles are miraculously different to everybody else's (which I guess is always a possibility in his case) he couldn't possibly stretch, twist and turn without any apparent effort if he had torn any muscles. Any of his opponents who fell for that kind of bullcrap have only themselves to blame.

True. Well I’m more just talking about him getting the rest he needs. It’s now more important than ever to prioritise his schedule for the big majors and events ahead.

It’s a big 2 at this point, Fed isn’t gonna win another major at this point

Please justify this comment. What puts Djokovic ahead of Federer on HC GOAT list and why.

Djokovic winning 19? :-D
Id love it ending 20-20-19. Would make USO 2020 defining and somehow karma for Djokovic on court behaviour.
However Nadal is a dead cert for FO. So Nadal will get 21. Unlikely USO 2020 will be relevant. Which is a shame if you get my point.

They aren’t done lol

Nadal is a virtual lock at the French Open

Wimbledon will be won by one of the big 3 (if Fed doesn’t come back it’ll be won by one of Djokodal)

US Open is wide open but it’s quite clear the pressure to beat the big 3 in a slam final is impeccable to these young guys

Djokovic is finished, he won't be much of a factor in 2021 especially at the slams. He had a good career with 17 slams, and even though it's a full 3 slam Murray career away from Fedal, it's still nice enough.
