This thread is a little early since there are several tournaments left this season, but I thought the similarities were interesting and something to think about. It's a thread that can be revisited at a later date once the season is over.

As of right meow I'd go with Sir Andeh MurrayGOAT, but I think by the end of the year, Sheet will have surpassed his 08 season. Murray's 2nd MS 1000 edges him for me, but Sheet will have more wins by the end of the year, a great shot at the remaining 2 MS 1000's, and he performed way better in his first GS final than Murray did.

So far, 2008 Murray and its fairly likely to stay that way. Unless Med goes on some crazy run and wins Paris then the WTF. Murray has more titles, 1 more M1000 win, and he beat #1 Rafa impressively to make his USO 2008 final. True Rafa was tired from the Olympics and the final was a poor performance on Murray's part, but Rafa is two steps slower now as well.

Too early to say, there are still 2 masters and the WTF. But as it stands now, it's Murray. An extra masters plus an extra slam QF gives him the edge (mainly the masters). If Medvedev wins one of the next 3 big events, I may give it to him.

Murray was 21 and had to face 27 year old Federer, 21 Djokovic and 22 Nadal + Del Po was 20 and top 10. I think that they faced in the Us Open QF and Del Po was on 20 win run with 4 straight titles. + Davydenko, Safin, Roddick, Hewitt were all in their 20's. The overal level of the tour was a lot higher back then IMO

Tough. Murray has so far had better results, he also had the more impressive wins over the Big 3 - in Medvedev's corner is that he played a much better slam final.

Too early to tell. As of now, Murray is still ahead, but this is propped up mostly by his extra Masters 1000. There's still Shanghai, Paris, and the ATP Finals left for Medvedev to catch up. He appears to still be in his winning ways so I expect some more good results from the Mad Lad.

Facing prime fedr > facing nervous oldal, no? Remember madlad was on the brink of a str8-set loss and Oldoll helped with some silly errors like the smash, although what happened afterwards was mostly dani's doing.

and Medvedev played vs Futures and Challenger type of opponents or perhaps vs talented juniors?
during an entire season?

Yeah Fed would have smacked off the court, you still don't hink he played better than Murray though?

Played with more balls but Nadal let him back into the match. How would Murray 08 fare against this Nadal? Probably on the level of 08 USOdal that Murray did beat, but this is the final so nerves are key.

2008 was one of the best years and the start of the Big 3+Murray era.

my vote goes to @Mainad 's dp person..
even though fed wasn't playing like peak, 2008 fed still had FH and movement unlike 2019, nadal was at the height of his powers and djok was extremely consistent if not prime...

The competition was better in 08' hands down. I believe Murray was at a higher level than Medvedev as well. As far as success(accomplishments) in tournaments, Medvedev may surpass him when comparing these two seasons.
