Lucie Safarova played absolute briliant tennis over Ana today. She needs to be top 20 ASAP. Lucies backhand and forehand is love..

Lucie def. Ana 3-6 7-5 6-3

Yeah she reminds me alot of the talentless Steffi Graf with her brainless boring bashing game. That game will never bring you to the top.

Um, were you not praising Azarkena a couple of months ago??? You seemed to make a big deal out of Vika 'destroying' an injured Serena??

Safina seemed lost on the court, w/o her coach she looks fragile.

Even with coaching during the final vs. Jankovic, she sat there as if in a confused state of mind. How her coach cannot realize that her baseline basher game is too simple-minded in structure is a mystery.

I have never seen or heard of her coach ever before until Safina emerged. Actually I still dont even know his name. Who is to say he is even that qualifed a coach and didnt luck out to just have hooked up with her and she is his meal ticket to the tour.

I hope Serena wins this title. I remember when she won in 2001 and it was a special moment and hopefully she can do it again. In 2000 she was sadly denied the title by an injury in the middle of complete dominance of the final.

Jankovic beat Clijsters?? wow!!!

Clijsters is a shadow of the player she was from 2001-2006. Clijsters of those years would completely destroy the likes of Barfina and Jankovic in 40 minutes. Hopefully with more matches and tournaments she will be back to her old level.

update ..............

kleybanova had to fight for every single point, finally managed to even the score 1 set all by taking the second 9-7 in the tiebreak.

2 hours, 28 minutes ... and they still have a set to go! woof!!

Thanks Love Game.....

youre welcome! ..... did you see the match? And thank you for the suggestion for the stream! :D

not good news for jelena, though ....... too bad. alisa did the same thing to her that she did to vera at the australian open in january: beat her in three (one of the longest women's matches in the open era tonight at 3 hrs, 13 mins). ah well...... jelena can seek some comfort in her corner!

shrieking louder, more power, maria holds 5 all

and now she'll be serving for the match because she just broke aggie again 6-5, mostly with powerful groundies.

Glad Kleybanova won...

Now after Radwanska being up 5-2 in the second set... Sharapova and Radwanska are in a 2nd set TB.

Sharapova had a match point and squandered it...

Radwanska up 2-0 in the TB

*****

Order of Play - Saturday 22 August

Stadium (from 12.30hrs)
1. Hantuchova/Sugiyama vs. Llagostera Vives/Martínez Sánchez
2. Elena Dementieva vs. Serena Williams (NB 15.00hrs)
3. Alisa Kleybanova vs. Maria Sharapova (NB 19.00hrs)
4. Black/Huber vs. Stosur/Stubbs

Serena up 5-3. Dementieva started strongly with some strong groundstrokes but Serena got angry and upped the tempo and is now overpowering Elena. Lets go Serena!

Elena didnt choke, Serena stepped it up under pressure like the champion she is. Both are playing well, good match so far. Hopefully Serena wins the breaker.

I love when the williams sisters are pwned..
Especially Serena..
She should think in her last defeats before bashing Safina's.

Hahaha this is so good. First Fed beats Murray and now Elena looks to straight set Serena. :D I hope she keeps this up til the end.

Elena's serving for the set now.
And that hottie/cutie is in her corner.

---

but wait Serena takes her to deuce

All Russian from this point (Sharapova, Dementieva, Kleybanova). Only Kleybanova actually lives in Russia (Moscow). I think she has a shot.
