C'mon Granoller bar.
ok, so i'm not the only one thinking on that each time i see his name ! ;)
y si, por supuesto... vamos la barra de granollers ! :p

would be fun to see a "perdedor afortunado" win a tournament... last time it occured was stakhovsky at zagreb in 2008, or was there a more recent one ?

Ferrer in straight sets. Nice to watch Ferrer battle his way into the WTF as his slightly more talented countrymen(Verdasco) imploded after the US Open.

I think the last lucky loser to win was Rajeev Ram last year at Newport but im not one hundred percent sure.
you're probably right ! :)

by the way, on wikipedia, they mention that stakhovsky was the 6th player to win a tournament as a lucky loser (from 1978 ).

2009: ram, newport
2008: stakhovsky, zagreb
1991: miniussi, sao paolo
1990: clavet, hilversum
... and who are the 3 missing ones ?

Ferrer/Granollers match is on ... SAME time as the Djokovic/Federer match!

good planning, atp!!!

Granny's serve and volleying is really paying off. Nice to see that an old mans game still can be applied successfully in this modern era. :)

Granola sounds like he's in pain with every shot, interesting grunt :p Ferrer broken while serving for the set, 3 great shots from MG! 5-4*

Ahhh, Ferrer really sneaks away with the 1st set. 7-5

This is pretty entertaining, quality play!

one of the organizer/owners is juan carlos ferrero, and his friend david ferrer owns 10% of the tournament

how much does hawkeye cost, anyway?

I heard that billonaire who owns Indian Wells now has promised to put hawkeye on all eight courts for next year

$10k-$35k per court, I read somewhere... but it's clearly a necessity in todays game! We're too used to having hawkeye now.

Stellar stuff from ferrer to break early in the 2nd :D

Ferrer also owns 10 % from what I've heard.

Hawkeye costs up to 25 grand per court. Nothing for a 500-event basically, you could atleast have it on the centercourt.

"The tournament budget was overstrained so they couldn't afford hawkeye" - from one of the commentators yesterday. Pity. Shameful to say the least.

Very happy for David :) It was visible in the trophy ceremony how much it meant to him. Congrats to Marcel as well for a very good game in and before the final.
Ow, and great to see Murrays got the title in dubs!

So so happy for Ferrer! How could anyone not like this guy? He really puts his heart into every match, must make it even more super sweet to get a victory like this for him.

completely agree with you, really hope to see him at the WTF's.

They do! Enterprising gentlemen, and very good friends. One day when I'm really rich, I'm going to stay at JCF's beautiful hotel.

I hope.

Larry Ellison? I bet he will. I'm glad he's a tennis fan, and A-Rod really acknowledged him @ IW last year -- he really looks like he's trying to cultivate that relationship.

I like that. :-)

(American tennis certainly needs it.)

I didn't know he owned it though ...? I thought IW was the American BNP Paribas Open now, so to speak.

Or are we talking about that other guy, the one that was president of the bank?

You can't even begin to picture how beautiful the lineswoman on the ad side on Granollers' side was, during the first set. She was just perfect. If I had been there... I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the ball at all.

Ahh yes, this has to be the sexiest tennis match I've watched:). That lineswoman, the ladies behind ferrer's bench and the random Spanish woman in the crowd:oops:
