2011 Davis Cup QF-USA vs. ESP

Excited to watch some of the matches. I think Fish is looking in good form and could beat Ferrer and Verdasco. Roddick hasn't been himself lately but he always plays good during Davis Cup and this time he's got the crowd behind him. And of course we have the Wimbledon doubles champs so that's obviously a advantage. The USA has a good chance!
P.S-Let me know if there is already a thread about this.

And Lopez is playing Singles over Verdasco. Does this mean Deliciano is playing better singles than Verdasco ????????????? LOL

Good call seeing as the courts are supposed to play ultra fast, which would benefit Deli much more than Verdasco.

This is true, as evidenced by Lopez' 3 career Wimbledon QF apperances (including this year obv), but Feliciano even had more success on the clay than Verdasco this year.

Definitely a good decision by the Spanish, and its looking like a very tough tie all the way around.

Yes, tough tie even without Rafa. Thinking (and hoping) USA will pull through 3-2.

Ferrer very strong on fast courts...

Meanwhile, in other news, Australia are 'saving Lleyton Hewitt for the doubles' in Beijing

No, really, that's what they said.

Marinko Matosevic may well have a better singles ranking, but seriously???

This is probably a stupid question, and not really relevant but seeing as I thought of it while watching this it kinda is, how do they make these indoor courts eg. at the Erwin Center when the surface is usually different. I have the same query when watching the World Tour Finals at London's O2.

4-5, Fish serving to stay in the fifth.

Did they show Roddick earlier? My cable box says that the first rubber was hours ago, but the Davis Cup site doesn't have a score entered.

This is still the first rubber. Roddick/Ferrer after this.

Good heavens!

Watching Lopez play has pretty much illustrated to me the definition of a pusher.

I'm a weekend hack and I hit more one handed topspin backhands than this guy.

Verdasco's like "YESSS, I might not absolutely screw my team when I lose tomorrow!!!"

Just like I always say....
"never underestimate a Spaniard with a tennis racquet in their hand"
****ducks for cover****

According to his Davis Cup record he wins 3/4 times. We just have to sit back and hope Ferrer chokes..

He doesn't need to choke. Roddick needs to play his game. And by that I mean his GOOD game, not his typical crap one.

Roddick with the break to open the match.

Roddick breaks to start the match!!!

Still seems to be playing, loopy, defensive tennis....

but good start on the scoreboard...

I think Andy's First serve percentage, and Ferrer's ability to capatilize on Roddick's 2nd serve could be the difference
