After an extensive critique of Feds game from 2005 -2011 I have realised that last year was the best fed ever was. His serve forehand backhand and movement was out of this world if not for nadal and djoker he would of cleaned up. His return stats, serve stats match up with any other year yes the 4-1 negative h2h mind vs djoker might have some fed fans in disagreement also his usual negative h2h vs nadal too but seriously fed as he said HIMSELF is at his best right now.

And in 2012 he has improved his losing overall H2H with Murray so definitely.

I wouldn't call del potro a grand slam champion no competition or Murray a multiple grand slam finalist and serial masters winner a nobody. Then you have the big hitter brigade in tsonga, berdych and soderling.

it's really easy to understand how nadal won his career slam, fed's 16 slams, and djok's 2011 because it is the era is weak.

I wouldn't put anything past Federer.
The guy is not to be counted out until he's about 35!
Hard to predict how many more slams but he's definitely a top contender which, in this period of extreme competition, says a lot.
I would normally predict a slam or two for Federer before he retires but the trouble I see is that Murray is now also up there as a serious contender so that's 3 formidable hurdles he has to get through never mind the rest.
Really really tough.

My crystal ball tells me there will be semi finals in slams in Feds future but no grand slams unfortunately and I'm pretty acurate on these things I predicted many moons ago the coming of Novak the great.
 
how many time do you want to hear the following:

Fed improved some aspects of his game, but his power, movement and consistency have suffered big time.

Just one thing.

Wait till Djokovic hits 31. You won't imagine the amount of crap that he (and Nadal) will get when they are 30 years old.

Federer at 31 is more than keeping up with Novak and Nadal who are at the peak of their powers and still gets slapped in the face for not winning every match like he used to in 04-07.

True, except for the part about him being 31. Let's not age him...he's 30. He turns 31 in August. One of my biggest pet peeves is how everyone always tries to make someone in sports a year older, even if they're 6-8 months away from their next birthday.

Are you kidding, his return stats are way worse than in his prime (2004-2007). Lower % of return games won, WAY lower % of second serve points won and first serve return slightly worse.

The guy blew a 2-set lead in two consecutive slams. He'd never done that in his career before that. His return, movement, ground strokes and even mental fortitude have all gotten worse.

So when fed was dominating in 2005 you were 15 no wonder he can do no wrong, you grew up on his beat downs of roddick and hewitt and the blakes of this world now his is god in your eyes and will never do wrong. As you get older you will see NO ONE is worth worship in such a way.
