Now you see,it was infact a tough draw for Fed to win the WTF cos he would've had to beat Djokovic and Murray back to back. Instead the organisers put Djoker and Murray in one half in the round robin stage so that Novak wouldn't need to beat Murray and Fed back to back to win the title. Cunning buggers.

Novak wins. Love these Nole comeback matches. 8)

Commiserations to DelPo, great play in the first part of the match. Has all the tools and ability to beat anyone on his day. He just let up a bit and Novak took advantage and gained confidence.

Solid match for the most part.

I'm glad Del Potro managed to take a set (though I wasn't awake to see it :(). I wish he could have won, but I'm not disappointed at all. he put in a very good performance at this event. Now if only he can sort out his troubles against Ferrer. He's got no business losing to Ferrer as often as he does!

It's odd to predict this at a time when Delpo has gotten back to top form, but I think it's reasonable to say that he'll never win a slam again. He doesn't have the serve someone his height should be capable of and he doesn't last against the top contenders.

Not odd, good analysis. Second serve is especially mundane, returner like Djo-Dracula gonna pound it. Delp major claim to fame has been he has had big results against Federer.

Delpotro has to sort out his tactical game plan if he wants to beat the likes of djokovic and ferrer.

He just is too passive on the second serves for someone his size. He is not going to win baseline grindout contests against ferrer and djokovic, who when dialed into the match dont miss.

They force delpotro into desperation and he just goes for way too much.

Until djokovic physically declines, i can see him being a thorn in delpotro's side. Del potro matches up badly against djokovic, murray and ferrer.

I expected Delpo to see this out in straights once he went a break up in the second. Perhaps that shows how little I know about tennis! Djokovic is just too hard to put away, the consistency is relentless, and so is the self-belief. Great match to watch for a neutral but I am slightly dissapointed considering my Delpo bias.

Federer and Nadal. They were the top dogs in tennis in 2009, and he won a combined five matches against them in that year alone.

Great victory for Djokovic, good match from Delpo, this was a great season for him, I wish him all the best in 2013

I was surprised that jjerman does not celebrate Delpo's defeat, and then I saw that he was banned. :)

Congratulations to Nole. He deserved to win. I didnt like the double bounce shot though.

He lost the point a second later anyway so whats the big deal. Had he won, or the point stretched he would have called it.

Maybe he never saw it since he was stretching or lunging for it. Remember that one camera showed one bounce and another showed two.

I seen the first two sets, Delpo first set was man on fire,he hit hard everywhere with good touch,Nole came back 2nd set with a break and won the set ,then I had to go sunday tennis clinic,,
Congrats Nole.

:)

Cool but technically #1 player IS player of the year. (My only exception would be if said player underperformed in slams, in which case I agree it could be contested but I think the ranking system is better now which makes a situation like that more unlikely to happen).

I thought this was very odd indeed! When the replay was shown in one angle, every one was sure that Mohamed Lahyani was right; but another angle totally disproved the first notion! Was this the first time it happened this way (in terms of the replays showed?). Certainly the first time I've seen this.

Looks like Delpo has to choke first to learn how to beat the best.

Solved ******* and now he has work to do against pushing wall.

Nole didnt start play any better... Delpo just lost his mojo to play attacking tennis as usual.

...and the end he was serving like girl yet again without any placement.
