Federer was massively helped by the roof. Wimbledon was essentially an indoor tournament this fortnight, kind of takes a bit away from this victory I think.

That sitter backhand that Andy missed at 4-4 30-40 breakpoint in the 2nd was the biggest miss. Had he nailed that for a winner he would have been serving for a 2 sets lead. Kind of reminded me of Roddick's missed volley in '09.

There is always a counter point. Federer had a high mid-court backhand in the 1st set at 4-4 in Murrays service game. Fed hit a weak drop shot and Murray ran in and whizzed it right at Fed's head for a winner. This shifted momentum and won the 1st set for Murray. If Fed hits any decent shot off Murray's weak ball, Fed likely wins 1st set.

We all view the losers game as a few key strokes but Fed blew several relatively easy break points in the 1st set. Fed could have just as easily been up 2 set to 0 as down 2-0 if you shifted maybe 1 point in the match.

It was very close. They both played unbelievable tennis.

Yeah the app was horrible, so was the French. AO and USO 2011 did a great job having a menu page and easy to read scoreboards and such.

Was an AMAZING Match by both guys. Federer played as good as he did in 2006 in the Tennis Masters cup against Blake. I'm going to be replaying this match on my dvr a LOT

We are. He did his best and you can't ask more. If it was not to be, it was not to be. I think he won over many doubters in this country today and we should hear no more of this silly 'Murray is a Scot, so he's not really one of us' nonsense I've been coming up against in various threads lately. At least I HOPE we won't be hearing anymore such talk!
