Welcome to the 2013 edition of the Paris-Bercy Sudden Death League.

Rules of the game:

1. Every day of the tournament that day's matches will be posted. You pick one player who you think is going to win. It's a knock out-system: if the player you picked wins, you're through to the next round. If he loses, you're out.

2. You make a pick for one player per day

3. During a tournament, you can pick a player only ONCE. Obviously it's important to make smart choices in order to get far. If you somehow have no players left to pick, you're out as well.

4. You can't pick a player from a match that has started already.

5a. If the player you picked retires during the match, you're out. If he retires before the match, you're allowed to change your pick.

5b. If you would like to make a back-up pick in case a player withdrawals before the match you can post your intended pick and below it post a back-up with something notating that it is your back-up pick only. The back-up pick will only be used if your main pick withdrawals before the match starts.

5c. If the opponent of the player you picked retires, it counts like a win. However, you can't pick a player whose opponent had already retired from the tournament.

6. NEVER edit your pick. If you want to change your pick, please quote your old pick and choose a new player. Edited posts will not be taken into consideration.

Note this will be the last event before the WTF. I'll update the Race after Basel/Valencia but before Paris starts.

WTF Update:

Like last year, there will be 1 WTF event open to everyone and a "bonus" portion open only to the Top 8 finishers in the Race. I'm thinking we'll probably keep the same format we used for last year's WTF, but I'm open to other suggestions.

FYI, last year, the WTF event open to everyone utilised Idea #1, while the Top 8 "Bonus" Portion used Idea #2 from this post: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showpost.php?p=6972053&postcount=2

Essentially, the open regular portion (Idea #1) required making a different pick every day of the Round Robin (6 days total), but your picks were re-set before the Semi-Finals so that for the Semis you could use a player you previously picked in the Round Robin. The regular portion had 8 total picks for a maximum of 1500 points.

The Top 8 bonus format (Idea #2) only required making a different pick for each RR round (only 3 total), but the caveat was your picks were not re-set for the Semis and Final (i.e: you could not pick a player for the SF or Final who you already used in the Round Robin). The bonus portion had 5 total picks for a maximum of 750 points.

how to join this game? I want to play.

Hello. Welcome to this game.

If you want to play, you just post in the game thread before the beginning of each tournament that you are IN, i.e. you are going to play,. Now that you posted here, you are already in the game. Rules of the game are in the first post of this thread.

If you have any other queries, you can post them in this thread itself.

Enjoy the game and have fun. :)

Tough choices for day one. I think I'll use my strategy from the French and choose French players for as long as possible.

Day 1: Paire
