The '13 Novak streak to end?
This match will be TOMORROW, after the first semifinal which begins at 12 noon.
No the streak will not be ended by Delpo. Looking forward to a good match though.
I didn't think he'd win the Olympics bronze medal match either...
Del Potro hopefully win MS1000 this week.
Not a chance. Djokovic is not losing in Indian Wells. The only player who has a chance is Nadal but he would have to be at his very best and Djokovic below par and even there I would go for Djokovic.
Del Potro in three.
I'd always assumed that he'd already won one, but in fact he's only ever been in one final (loss to Murray). If Berdych can win one, so can Delpo.
Olympics was on grass. Not relevant here.
Then Djokovic beat him 4 straight times on hard courts.
1st SF starts at noon, PT
Would be a huge upset for DP to win this one. I cant see it happening. His win over Murray wasnt a huge upset, but this sure would be.
Thanks. I'll edit that in, although I'm surprised they wouldn't set it up for a specific time.
Yeah in theory delpos weakest surface. I think it will be close but the main thing this week is delpos gained a big win and a lot of confidence.
Novak is playing tennis that is out of the world right now! Del Potro played a solid match but fortunately for Novak he is no John Isner, isner last year took out Novak in the Semis at this event in 3 sets.
12 PM is specific mate. 1st match of the day. Rafa vs Berdych
You are right Del Potro is no Isner. Del Potro has actually won a slam, something Isner will only accomplish on his Playstation.
I feel Delpo will win.
He has the confidence having beaten Djokovic-lite without dropping a service game and with a breadstick in the final set in the semifinals today. This is pivotal as Juan Martin had taken Novak to a tie break in Dubai a few weeks ago.
A lot depends on how well the wrist is holding up. He was slicing a lot against Murray today. He'll need a proper backhand to hang with Djokovic in rallies.
He's the underdog, but there seems to be enough crowd support for him. I think this is his time. Hopefully the win over Andy Murray will ensure that a Tsonga like meltdown* doesn't occur.
* Was so sad and painful to watch even as a neutral observer.
Delpo is playing good with more variety but i still think Djokovic will take it in 3.
If this was a final I'd want delpo to win, but don't want him to win only to get taken out by Nadal in the final so I'll root for Djokovic, unless Berdych somehow upsets Nadal, in which case Delpo getting past Djokovic would be a good chance for the title
I was referring to the fact that John took the racket out of Novaks hand in the semis big man tennis with huge pop on that serve Del Po has a decent serve but it is hard to see him doing tomorrow what John did last year!
As for your comment on a major.. Johnny mac and navaratilova would not agree! Both beleive John has a great shot at at least making the final at Wimbledon.
Nadal vs. Del Potro on hard courts is not a foregone conclusion, and I would actually love to see that final. Their exhibition was pretty enjoyable, and the intensity of a real match will add to that.
Djokovic will kill him.
Ok so my two favorite players after Federer and Dimitrov, damn I like both of these a lot. Hopefully Del Potro just cause I want him to win a 1000 title and keep rising. For Djokovic tournaments like these are a dime a dozen.
As scary good Djoker's game is, I like Delpo's chances against him. Divine intervention, it appears is on his side. And the Pope might be watching too
Like I said in the Fed/Rafa match, it could be heavily one sided or it could go on forever.
Novak in 2 most likely but you never know.
Watching out for our savior no doubt.
oh he has the game to beat Nadal, even blast him off court, but I dunno mentally if he will be strong enough. Though he looked good in that department today.
I am not so sure JoelDali is a Del Potro fan
No thanks, give me Novak in 2 easy-peasy sets please. The saviour of tennis needs to be primed for the final against you know who.
Definitely. He badly needs a master title too. Looks weird to have a slam but not a master. Maybe that will give him extra motivation. Still, defeating Djoko is gonna be a tough ask (unless Djoko has a complete off day or the pope interferes lol).
hahahaha. New clarky-esque nickname?
Nadal vs Del Potro on hard courts is not a foregone conclusion but Del Potro would be far from safe to win, while Djokovic would be pretty safe to beat Nadal on hard courts (atleast this early in Nadals comeback, that might change later in the year), so it makes sense a mutual Djokovic and DP fan would root for Djokovic. Obviously nobody sane is banking on Berdych taking Nadal out.
Both shotmakers will lose to pushers tomorrow. This is Indian Wells after all.
Djokovic looked sublime against Tsonga. I like Del Potro a lot, but Djokovic is the man in form, and personally I think he needs to get his hands on Nadal, and this is a perfect opportunity for him, especially with Murray now out of the way.
Djokovic 6-4 7-5.
Does anybody not like Del potro?
My thoughts exactly.
I like DelPo a lot and would love to see him win his first MS title. On the other side, I would love to see Djokodal final
LOL who do you consider the shotmaker and pusher in these matchups. Nadal has actually hit more winners than Berdych in most of their matches in recent years. Del Potro had almost now winners the first set vs Murray, while Djokovic has been overpowering, not merely outgrinding, his opponents all tournament.
hence the buthurt comments
Djokovic in 3
Novak in 2 last years Semi was a different proposition altogether
I think Djokovic will win in straight sets. Had an easy win against Tsonga and will be fresher.
Del Potro hits his forehand so hard and generally has a big game so is always a danger but I think can only win if Djokovic has an off day which I don't see.
Nadal is the best shotmaker of the remaining players.
Time to extend the streak?
Novak to win in 1hr 30min.
Delpo in 3 sets.
Is this starting now?
