Would be nice for it to be played outdoors, but you know there's no shot of that. The NCAA will keep a tight schedule on the rest of this tournament, including the individual competitions.
 
Well, there were pretty significant storms in central Illinois last night. Looks fairly clear this morning. The forecast I was looking at indicated only a 30% chance of rain for 1 p.m. in Champaign. "Scattered t-storms" doesn't really mean much as it could be anywhere from consistently sunny to a full scale thunderstorm follwed by consistent rain for a large period of time.
 
Third straight year for UVa to make the final, four straight years in the semis, and nine straight years in the quarterfinals. Now we just need to start the even more important streak of winning the final.

Here is a good quote from Ty Tucker that I saw on Zoo Tennis talking about the end of the Novikov match and leaving Kobelt as the last match on:

"You hope that doesn't happen," said Ohio State coach Ty Tucker. "Because maybe Rola goes to serve it out, takes five more minutes, and Peter's not feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders, maybe he gets that hold for 5-all. But if ifs and buts were candy and nuts it'd be Christmas every day."

Good time to start, I read somewhere that Stanford will win the next 50 straight.
 
Every bit as windy right now as it was yesterday though the gusts don't seem as bad. About 20 minutes away from show time
 
Nothing like the smell of manure to get everyone fired up. The wind is bringing it from the farms next to the courts.
 
Scoreboards showing points but my streams on all 3 courts say event will start shortly. Cmon guys.

Haha. I used to work the challenger in November at the indoor courts, and a few of us were joking a few weeks ago that if the manure is that bad in November, we couldn't imagine how bad it would be at the NCAA's in much warmer weather! :-)
 
Novikov really struggled with his serve as did Domijan so it'll be interesting to see what carryover there is to singles. Jenkins looked a lot more comfortable today

who was that moron who suggested sitting him in the finals since he might be haunted by his two past finals matches??? thank god boland is in charge instead of that guy...
