Georgia Tech had to forfeit #6 singles against Yale and that was after they dropped the doubles point so they trail Yale 2-0. The girl that forfeited/withdrew played at #2 doubles so maybe she got hurt during the match. If they end up losing then both of Bryan Shelton's teams would have been bounced in the 1st round. Shelton of course is no longer the GT women's coach but he brought in most of those players.

Thanks for including all the links to live stats and video. Give me the college tennis tournament over "March Madness" any day; these matchups are so much fun.

Who's bright idea was it to put the lady Trojans against the Cardinal in round of 16 ? These are probably the two best teams in D1. and they have to play each other in round of 16 ? What was NCAA thinking ?

They went by the rankings, and Stanford has been mediocre this year.

Impressive win by injury-depleted Duke women over Ole Miss, 4-0. Might have been headed for 4-2. Probably the end of the road, but a nice showing in the face of adversity.

Mediocre ??? Trust me on this, USC is the 1st to tell you that they do not want to see the Cardinal in round of 16. This team is full of star players. NCAA champ, Pac-12 champ, Junior #1, NCAA runner up, and Tsay who has WTA challenger level experience, this is the most talented team in NCAA.

Then how did USC beat them 6-1 in the regular season, pray tell?

In fact, to your point, it was actually 4-1 Duke. Duke didn't even play anyone on the #6 line.

Im an USC fan and needed a big gulp when I saw that draw ... NCAA draw committee hates California teams.. makes them beat each other up before the finals ...

Florida after winning the NCAA for 2 years in a row really should put in a Webcam in their stadium. They have the money but all goes into their football team.

Who knows if they get a webcam, they might get to host NCAA ? and they won't have to go to places with crappy weather like Illinois.

The thing that's crazy about Duke's 4-1 victory over ole miss is that they won three singles matches faster than ole miss could beat a soccer player who picked a tennis racquet back up a couple months ago at #5

I thought that score had to be a typo when I first saw it considering Duke's 4 tennis player roster - hell of a good job by the fill-in Lipp!

Making the final 16 would be ridiculous - unlikely but who knows

Respectfully to Duke and their advance to the sweet 16 is amazing, Ole Miss lady tennis was very weak this year. Another case of SEC overstimulation of the rankings. Haha. Love spell check

Well Duke took the doubles pt today

Virginia and Texas in a good one right now as are Texas Tech and Duke. Georgia isn't exactly plowing through Arizona State either.

yeah they look like they have a chance - of course can only afford to lose one of the four legit singles matches, but they're not going down easy in any of them, and mar and clayton are as fit as they come as the matches wear on

they'll be celebrating like they won a national championship if they earn the right to go to the final 16 after all they've gone through this year

3-3 Duke and they are up 5-2 in the 3rd set on the last court (4)

Awesome 4-3 win to spoil it for the host team

Clayton deserves to finish a fantastic career on the big stage - and Lipp deserves the same for giving it her all to help out another Duke team - wonderful job ladies, and credit to the coach for keeping them positive and moving forward all season

ACC with 5 teams in the sweet sixteen. Tough in conference schedule gets you ready for the tournament.
I am NOT a Duke fan but they earned my respect going on the road short handed and getting two wins. They are the only non host team to move on.

And yes, I wasn't the best fan of this team most of the year since I was bitter about another potential title team falling apart bit by bit - my bad - credit to the team for having a much better attitude about it than this sometimes crummy fan

The Duke women are inspiring. They could have just given up but no. They kept fighting and now look where they are. Sweet Sixteen. Applause please.

That's crazy, you would think there would be someone on campus that could walk on just so they could throw someone out there.

The girl playing 5 is from the soccer team. I think she's been blown out in just about every match she's played, but credit to her for being out there and trying to help.

I too would have thought somewhere at that school are a couple girls who had some tennis skills that they could put out there just to field a lineup, but I guess a sacrifice is about as useful as a forfeit.

The time commitment of a varsity team is no small thing - especially if you know you're going to lose every time - no surprise there weren't many volunteers

They were able to shut out UF after losing a third of their starters earlier this year (Capra, Kahan) but when you add in two more (goldfeld, turewicz) and you're down two thirds of your starting lineup against the #1 team - yeah...

Interesting season - time to hope duke sports med is doing a good job in prep for next year

I was all set to come in here and brag on UGA's #1 ranked dubs team, and how Kate Fuller may be the best volleyer in women's college tennis...but they are definitely off to a rocky start.

Clemsons doubles sucked all year. They tried switching partners all the time even did a player vote thing at one point. But these seem to be working. Jeukeng at 3 is smart.
