And Tsonga DF's to hand Tomic 2 MPs. 8-7.
DF what? Saves another MP wow!
5th time lucky maybe? 9-8 Tomic.
Tsonga saves 5th match point.
Nope, saves another.
rofl. Tomic serves a great serve, Tsonga gets it back and forces the error. Saves a 4th.
Tomic wins the next.
Tsonga to serve. 9-8
9-9 Tsonga survives a 5th MP with another winner!
This is a great match. Both guys playing up to their capabilities.
Ace and 1st MP for Joe!~
Now watch Tomic to lose this on his 1st MP.
BOOOM ACE MP Tsonga
Tsong aces. First MP on Tomic' serve. 10-9. Incredible.
another MP for JWT
MP number 2 for tsonga, this time on serve. epic.
Tomic survives that one with a winner.
Tsonga wins the next, gesturing to the crowd. 11-10. MP on his serve.
No freakin way that was awesome! saves 5 mp's.
5 MP saved, wow !
exciting tie-break !!!
PS: did i see arazi in the crowd ?
Tsonga wins the match, saving 5 MPs!
Tsonga beats the OZ Smug Brat .......
Who is up next in the Quarterfinals ?
JJ V Berdych!
How on earth anyone calls Tsonga a "mental midget" is beyond me. His nerves have never been a problem, rather his tendency to lose focus. What gutsy display from the Frenchman.
Bit late, but yeah, no BPs in that game.
At least get it right if you're going to be aggressive
You're wrong. Tsonga had a breakpoint in the 5th game of the third. I commentated the match through out. If you're going to correct someone, make sure you're right next time
I always make sure I'm right
Joey Barton's there...expect him to get sent off before the match is over.
Well.. there was that QF in Roland Garros against Djokovic.
Tuning into Berdych - Janowizc now. I'm expecting short points and lots of fireworks
What was that? Del Potro playing poker? haha
Seems like that is legit. Was certain Tsonga had a BP there. Played on getting that right and feel free to rub it in.
Tsonga messed up on one point out of those 5 MPs. The rest were on Djokovic' racket. Tsonga's not a choker.
Haha, I won't. There are no winners in internet disagreements, and we all make mistakes (me more than most).
I'm glad you didn't, cause you know what? It turns out I'm actually right
We do indeed all make mistakes 8(
Man, Simon is ON HIS GAME today.
You can say that again. That forehand pass, wow. Simon breaks 3-1
There isn't one player on the planet who would beat Simon today except maybe Rosol. This is incredible stuff.
What. A. Rally.
Simon takes the match and from what I saw of the match, played uncharacteristically aggressive.
Simon is so god dang fasst
this is a bit of a myth...we've all seen the Simon vs Monfils horror shows, but when Gilles is playing well he has no fear to rip FH cross court or BH up the line very flat and with pace
That said he did work the net more than usual and it paid off! Still, those legs! That 30-30 point in the last game was insane
Sure. I also vividly remember his match vs Nadal in Madrid 08, where he was ripping some shots. His FH dtl is the shot I think of the most, when he's ripping stuff. But let's not kid ourselves, he is a counterpuncher, who sometimes can inject some pace on his shots. What I meant by him being uncharacteristically aggressive today, is as you pointed to, him, following an aggressive shot, coming to the net. He did that a couple of times in the 2nd, as well as hitting some nice passing shots.
Hopefully both Tsonga and Simon will be able to sustain the level they showed today.
I guess there are, but it's not you here, hehe
this was fun to read
agreed i think of murray as a better simon
I guess I learned my lesson about taking flashscore as gospel. I have my pie (the humble variety). Now who has a spoon?
Matosevic has to be the most improved so far this year, he has been a revelation.
yeah Simon is a counter puncher no doubt, but plenty of people say he has no weapons. He has plenty of weapons, just prefers patience vs aggression normally.
but yes, the coming in to net was refreshing today and really won him some cheap points.
Simon vs Nadal in Madrid is one of my favorite matches to rewatch
Tsonga beats Simon 6-2,6-2 in their semi.
Didn't see the match but seems to have been quite a beat-down from Tsonga. Thought Simon would have ran him closer than that (he usually does).
Tsonga looking really good!
Anybody watch the match? I guess the Simon who played delpo didn't show up today...
i saw a few latter games... simon was making errors and seemed a bit out of it, like he was in the final set of a 5 set match or something.
i didn't see the whole match though. Simon was a beast* against delpo.
* never thought i'd use that word to describe him!
