Lets not forget who he was playuing as well hey?

I'm not forgetting who he played in either match. I think he played better today against Delpo than he did against Federer last year.

At the present time, at their current levels, I don't think there's another player who could have walked off that court victorious over Delpo today. Had Djokovic played as bad as some on here act like, he'd have lost, probably in 3 or 4 sets.

Delpo forced him to play with smaller margins today. Djokovic couldn't play it safe down the line because Delpo repeatedly punished him with that running forehand.

Weird weird match.

Murray must be licking his chops right now. Djoko is finally showing some vulnerability this Wimbledon at last though his serve seems to be ON.

Credit to Delpo for his fight as always.

Unfortunately for Murray, it is hard to see Djoker lose on Sunday after this. Delpo almost tried to snatch the trophy from Djoker and hand it to Murray, but unfortunately failed ;-) j/k. I think it will be 60-40 in Djoker's favor on Sunday even if he is a bit tired and Murray will definitely dispatch JJ in 3 easy sets.

Thanks but I'm kinda disappointed with Nole, should've finished this in the 4th set, is probably too spent now..

Oh well.

Maybe, maybe not. I think Djoker is still young enough that physically he will be fine. Just gotta watch those slow starts and that temper of his since the crowd will be 100% on Murray's side unlike last year. Also I think it's better to be tested and match tough, something that didn't happen last year at the US Open.

Have some faith man and believe!

For my money, the only thing that makes the Roger/Rafa 2008 match better is the fifth set and the round it was played in.

And, let's remember, Delpo should just now be hitting his prime. If he can stay healthy, Murray and Djokovic might need to make room for him at the table.

Heartbroken for DelPo. He was the first pro I ever saw live, walking down the street in Indian Wells last year (taking pictures with some babes) First losing to Rafa in Indian Wells, and now Djoko. At least he has his Bronze medal win and US Open win. Here's hoping he can bounce back and win another major!

The key will be in how tired Djoko is and how well he can handle the crowd. We've already seen that Djoko likes the crowd to be with him and the crowd will definitely be against him in a Sunday meeting versus Murray.

For me it's 55-45 to Djoko, really slim margins IMO.

I'm curious to see how Djokovic responds to a crowd that will be totally against him. He seems to have a strong desire to be liked and sometimes gets irked when the crowd clearly favors his opponent.

If Murray wins his upcoming match, he's probably going to face a crowd like he's never seen. Of course, knowing in advance might allow him to prepare and be ready for it.

Magnificent match.

I was rooting for Novak, though i Delpo is my 2nd favourite player.

Classy performance from both of them, best match of this year's Wimby by far.

Can't say much because I didn't see this match (damn work), but it is rather easy to say someone played better in a winning effort than a losing one. Just saying. I sense Delpo played fantastic, but playing Federer under a roof at Wimbledon in 2012 is a whole different matter. Not that any of this really matters. I like Djokovic to an extent so I'm not trying to discredit him. Just trying to make friendly conversation. :)

Best rallies I've seen at Wimbledon. It was Delpo's monstrous offense vs Djokovic's relentless defense, both red-lining for 4.5 hours. With no rain delays. I don't know about you guys, but this beats the '08 final easily. And in both matches the result was against my preference.

I think Novak knows what to expect. I think in his mind he'll think he's playing DC tie at Wimbledon courts.

He has battled many matches like this (USopen 2010 & USopen 2011 against Fed when whole crowd was rooting against him).

He should be ready for the physical and mental pain. This extra 3 hrs after his match will give him the valuable time for him to recover

Well he did play Murray in the Olympics so he knows what it's like.

What a match. After a fairly poor middle of the tournament, I'm glad I got to see this match! Well done Djoker!!!!! Congrats to zagor, Telepatic, Bob and the rest of Djoker camp. F1Bob you can relax now :).

At least tennis can be salvaged with Novak in the final. :)

No offense taken. It's just my opinion. I thought both guys played at a very high level for nearly the entire match. Djokovic is just a better player and ultimately prevailed. Nobody choked, IMO.

I like all of the remaining guys, so I just want some great tennis. It will be hard to top that opening act.

Wow this site keeps crashing on me! Finally I can post. Another historical battle. Congrats to both players for leaving their heart out there!! And the summer of revenge continues for Novak. 2nd W final. Novak survived Delpo, Andy survived Verdasco, we're gonna get that monster final for sure! Very happy for Nole right now. Just making another W final is a great achievement.

I do think knowing in advance will help. He will have no illusions going into that matchup. I don't think it will be an issue, but it is something that has seemed to bother him at various times in the past.

Well tbh we already got that match on grass last year at the Olympics without the roof...........

and Federer won. The stats of that match are quite similar to today's match except against Federer, Delpo's 1st serve % was 70 compared to the 60% today.

smash hit

The way Djokovic was behaving towards the crowd at the end was disgraceful.

Do you mean when Del Potro got a break back, in the last game. The crowd cheered for Del Potro and Djokovic sarcastically clapped the crowd and mouthed a few, no doubt choice words towards them. He tries to be Mr nice guy, but his true character comes out when under pressure.

It was a tremendous match, sorry Del Potro couldn't quite make it, but there can only be one winner.

Are you sure the Son of God can beat the Scotsman? ;)

Andy faced zero test until this point. With that he fumbled against Verdasco the Fiasco.

His real test will be facing Novak in finals. Not sure which way it will go. But Novak has passed through sterner tests in the form of Hass, Berdych & Delpo. Those are some real serious servers and Haas & Berdych are infatc good grass court players

I don't have to tell how much body blows novak received in this epic semis against Delpo.

Its Murray who really has to prove along with the whole expectation of the nation.

we gotta wait and watch

I am surprised so many of you think that the crowd rooting 100% for Murray will be a big enough factor for Djoker. I think he will be really pumped after this for the final and won't care if the crowd is against him. He'll come fully prepared for it.

Poor Delpo, he would have gotten to the final if he was on the other half.
What makes you think he would have beaten Murray? I think he would have lost in the semi either way but he does look like he'll win W at some point. He's still young and his grass game looks rather formidable. He almost beat Fed last year too. For sure his day will come.

Good post. This is what I felt too when Murray's draw evaporated. It could come back to bite him in the finals.

Delpo would DESTROY the royal family clown if he was in the other half of the draw.

It is always been like that for him. He is well used to it. he should be prepared for crowds clapping for his double faults!

Great match from two great players, I hope Del Potro gets fully fit and stays there, he is wonderful, and we can then look forward to many more tremendous matchups!

Verdasco played a very high level of tennis, so to say Murray hasn't been tested is ridiculous. There aren't many guys who would have beat Verdasco the way he played in that QF.

Besides that, these guys are experienced and know each other too well. He knows what it will take to beat Novak, and he knows he's capable of doing it.

Same for Novak....he knows what it takes to beat Andy as well.

Sunday finals will really show if Murray fluked with the wind in USopen 2012. It Will!!!

Credit to Murray for hanging in there but come on, that is all he needed to do and Verdasco was going to self destruct sooner or later. Nothing compared to what Djoker had to endure from Delpo.

It is true that there are no secrets b/w these two w.r.t their games, it is a matter of who brings the better form on that day.

why does djokovic always touches 3 spots on the chest after he wins a match..that is weird
It's a religious thing: sign of the cross. I can easily believe Djoko would want to thank god after a win like that! What a frigging epic. Delpo even got BP in the last game. Novak in total survivor mode!

Remember he was praying in the match point against Nadal in AO2012 epic... that was funny too. Guess he didn't have any more strength in his legs at that point!
