Well, he's been on the tour for what a year? Let's see what Federer's return game was like when he was on the tour for 1 whole year. Probably garbage as well

He has been a professional since 2007. Murray actually played him first in 2009 DC. Straight sets for Murray.

Even if you look at Federer's stats from 1999, his return stats wouldn't be that feeble. Edit: 20% for Federer at the age of 17.

His first major was Wimbledon 2012, who cares when they turn professional? He was playing challenger events almost all of last year

So, you're telling me Federer who lost in the qualifiers and 1R in all his first 4 majors had amazing stats?

Weren't people worried about Andy's knee? Ran like a jackrabbit all afternoon. I think Nova gonna get loxed.

Well stop acting like his ROS is godly. The point about Federer is moot since Federer was not ranked in the 20s (like Janowicz is currently) in his first year on tour and still had better return statistics.

Ha! Did Murray just say that JJ was sitting in the dressing room having a conversation on his phone during the roof break? Legend.

The polish guy was malicious, complaining about light to have a break to take a momentum. Have you heard of 2008 Wimbledon final you malicious man???? Thank God Karma punished him quickly

I never said his return of serve was godly, I said he did very well against Murray last time. People are basing his returning off of one game, his first SF appearance against a very good serving Murray (71% first serves)

Are you talking about the final that would most likely ended with roof being closed at 6-6 in the 5th and Federer easily winning afterwards if roof was available back then?

Woooooooooo-hoooooooo!

JJ's got a big future.

Thought Murray played really well tonight. Roll on Sunday, and may the best man win.

Okay, Janowicz is not hopeless and he can improve his ROS, but it will never be his strength. A lot of Murray's 2nd serves were begging to be hit but Janowicz couldn't make anything happen. I believe Murray's average second serve speed was 80 mph.

Of course, Janowicz will have his good days like he did against Murray at Bercy last year, but we can't really expect consistency from him in that department.

Disagree. It's still not near the Murray of last year.

Amazing how sub par Murray still good enough to reach a Wimbledon final!

Yeah, he certainly doesn't seem to be playing his very best. It's the mental side I'm more impressed with over the last few matches. It seems a long way from letting that feather throw him off stride in Australia.

I`m in Mallorca right now and all the pubs are showing Murray`s match. Brits are celebrating tonight. Go Andy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what happens to new players, everyone expects them to be flawless amazing performers. I'm not surprised Janowicz doesn't have a perfect game yet, he's been on the tour for 1 year. He probably hasn't had a coach all his life. Unlike most of the top, he hasn't been babied since 6 years old with all the best amenities possible.

JJ needs to improve his return and his net game.

from what I saw (from early in the second set till the end), his net game looked pretty fine. He didn't do enough on Murray's second and had a hard time reading the first, but Murray's first serve is a tough one, when it's on

Who are these flawless performers? Djokovic can't hit overheads with confidence and tries to hit volleys he is not skilled at, Murray's 2nd serve is an enormous letdown when you consider the rest of his game, Roddick had a horrible backhand and ROS, have you seen Gasquet's forehand?

Janowicz is like everybody else. He has his strengths and weaknesses. You act like Janowicz had the rough life and is some sort of working class hero. Utter nonsense.

Considering his family had to sell their businesses to fund his coaching and him having to sleep in cars he hasn't been exactly living lavishly. His return of serve will get better, but it's not garbage. It's top 60 which is pretty good considering it's his first year on tour and first time facing a lot of these guys

JJ's backhand ROS to improve

If you watched Murray's last few service games, all the points he got were from serving to JJ's backhand.

Too many errors off JJ's backhand ROS. If you look at JJ's footing, it was geared for being early on the forehand ROS, thus he would be late on a backhand ROS.

I hope the coaching fixes his backhand ROS ASAP as he should have won this match as he just gave Murray too many easy points from his backhand ROS errors.

IMPROVE THE BACKHAND ROS asap, and he should be in the top 10 now.

LOL if you are talking about 2008 the darkness was for BOTH
secondly, if there was roof in the first place it would've ended in three sets, remember the two sets up, rain interrupted, thatnks to shout-out penalties (tie break) and was 2-2, lol and what easily in the fifth set LOL It's was only because there was penality shoutout thats why he lost

I would wager large amounts of money that the average serve speed on tour is significantly higher now than it was in 1999.

But far less spin. Placement and spin are far more. Important than pure speed. Murray last year was hitting more 130s but this year has far more variety of speed, spin and placement on his serve

Yeah that was quite pronounced, I hadn't noticed it before though. Has he always done that?

the first 2 and half sets were good. But JJ going away after that was sad. Still murray did very well to not let the pressure go away by serving very well ....
