Welcome to the sixth edition of the 2013 WTA Sudden Death League season: The French Open!

Rules of the game:

1. Every day of the tournament that day's matches will be posted. You pick one player who you think is going to win. It's a knock out-system: if the player you picked wins, you're through to the next round. If he loses, you're out.

2. Till the Round of 16, you have to pick one player per day. In the R16, quarters, semis and finals you pick one player per round.

3. During a tournament, you can pick a player only ONCE. Obviously it's important to make smart choices in order to get far. If you somehow have no players left to pick, you're out as well.

4. You can't pick a player from a match that has started already.

5a. If the player you picked retires during the match, you're out. If he retires before the match, you're allowed to change your pick.

5b. If the opponent of the player you picked retires, it counts like a win. However, you can't pick a player whose opponent had already retired from the tournament.

6. If you want to change you pick, make a new post quoting the old pick. Edited posts containing picks will not be taken into account.

i'm starting strong with cibulkova as my first pick.

She is not playing tomorrow, so you will need to make a new pick. This Sunday start presents an impossible task to choose a winner that isn't Serena.

Day 1: Errani

For now. :x

Just a reminder that if you would like to change your pick, please do not edit your post.

I would prefer that you quote your original pick first and then make the change since it'll allow Ico and to know the changes better.

Please ensure that you cooperate within the rules.

Thanks!

Rankings and race have been updated in the first post.

Big Dangerous, my apologizes in addressing this now since I saw it in the Rome thread. I've been too busy since the Rome event ended.

While you did originally choose Halep, you did change it to Sharapova at the end of day. However, there was no new post to change it back to Halep even though you were asleep and were not aware of this. The rules are there for a reason, and since I did not get a new post to revert it back to Halep, I can only award you points 4 correct picks because it would not be fair to other players if they were able to change their picks on time.

My apologizes on this. Hope this clears things up.

Can we maybe make a rule change for situations like these in the future? Especially with tournaments overseas and the time differences, we can't always know right that second when players withdraw from tournaments. And it seems to be much more prevalent in women's tennis as opposed to men's. Also what would happen if there was a walkover/withdrawal and that was the last scheduled match of the day?
