2014 ATP Sudden Death League: Miami

I suspect Nishikori's withdrawal was a blessing in disguise for you. Also, with pretty much everyone above you in the Race & Rankings long out of this tournament, if you end up winning it you could shoot way up into the Top 5 of both.

Thanks for the info CD. I'd rather lose tho' :)

LOL....some messed up way to get to the final for all of us,

I'd rather reach the final with no pick remaining than go in in the 4th round or QF's trying to win the whole tournament.

I still find this whole thing hard to believe though. Both Berdych and Nishikori retire before the match?

What would have happened if someone would have picked Berdych? Would he have been eliminated? As Nishikori pulled out first, those who picked Nishikori got an opportunity to pick from the other SF, as Berdych pulled out later, those who picked him would have been eliminated or would they have been given some relief due to the extreme circumstance?

Again, the necessity/wisdom of the backup pick. Although I'd have questioned the wisdom of anybody picking Berdych to win that SF, even if they had made a backup pick.

Congratulations to Beast Of Mallorca, Boozyuzi, and kishnabe for winning Miami. Beast Of Mallorca also joins Djokovic in performing the impressive IW/Miami back-to-back titles feat. When also factoring in his championship at Acapulco the week before IW, Beast Of Mallorca has been on quite a tear the last month or so.

Rankings & Race updated:
For the Rankings, beast_of_mallorca jumps from #11 to #4, Boozyuzi goes from #13 to #5, I take the #2 spot from ark 28, while Gonzo_Style drops from #4 to #6, Locotus from #5 to #7, and Stringertom from #7 to #12.

For the Race, beast_of_mallorca jumps from #10 all the way to #2 and Boozyuzi leaps from #19 to #6 following their wins in Miami.

See everyone in Monte Carlo 2 weeks from now!

Congratulations Beast of Mallorca, Kishnabe and Boozyuzi!

I'm not too disappointed.
600 points. Not bad. Now 0-2 in finals (Dubai and Miami).

Looking forward to the clay season.

Thanks again for the update CDNguy......and also to the rest of the organizers of SDL. You guys make TW more fun, win or lose.

Here's hoping for a great Clay season for everyone !! :)

Visited Miami once- hated it! Been to Monte Carlo- loved it! Hopefully that bodes well (altho I either didn't play SDL there last year, or crashed in the first round, so no points to defend). Congrats to the winners. And thanks to the organisers.

You're so lucky to have visited Monte Carlo. It must have been real expensive to go there. Been to Miami once as well, and didn't like it. Among the tournaments I've been to, Indian Wells is my favorite. Great ambience. Great facility. Great weather etc

Outside of England, I've only been to the Houston tournament (brilliant!). Monte Carlo wasn't as expensive as Geneva, Switzerland! That's crazy expensive! I thought South Beach, Miami was beautiful but the people so full of themselves & vacuous that I would never want to go again:)

There's also some really bad parts of Miami that I wouldn't care to visit.

But I'd definitely like to go just to say I've been there.

Monte Carlo sounds like it was amazing though. I think any clay court event has to be high on my list of tournaments to go see.
