What a great matchup between the #1 seed Ferrer and the teenage breakthrough German Zverev. Hopefully Zverev is up to the challenge and gives Ferrer a fight. Personally, I think it will end up being a battle.

Also, good for Kohlschreiber to quietly get to the semis in his home country. That guy seems to do well whatever surface.

Who do you want to win and get to the finals ? And who r you picking to win ?

Kohlschreiber is one of these guys you can't tell which surface he's his favourite, a bit like Gasquet.

Ferrer - Zverev : expect a quick win from Ferrer, something like 6/3 6/3.

I had picked Ferrer to win, but in a battle. I was clearly wrong. I didn't necessarily have someone I wanted to get to the final more. Either Ferrer or Zverev in the final would have been great for their own reasons.

On the other side I wanted Kohlschreiber to get to the final, given he's the home favourite, but I can't deny how well Mayer is playing this week. He looked great against Kohly and deserves to be in the final. He'll be a tough match-up for Ferrer, although I could end up way wrong on that too.

Looks like the downward spiral for Ferrer is now set in motion.

very happy for Mayer. If only he can reduce his UFE, he can get into top 25.

Just discovered that Leonardo Mayer was born on exactly the same day as Andy Murray: 15 May 1987! :)

Do we know of any other ATP players born on the same day?

Just finished watching the match now.

Congrats to Mayer! I wanted Ferrer to win but watching this match - and watching the tournament all week - I can see that Mayer WON this, rather than Ferrer lost it. Mayer was playing some excellent tennis this week.

I guess I just hope that this isn't some random title for Mayer after which he'll fade into obscurity. I hope he goes on to be a consistent top 20 competitive player from here.

Also congrats to the unseeded doubles pair of Marin Draganja and Florin Mergea, who defeated the #1 seeds Peya and Soares to claim the men's doubles title! I don't know who these guys are but they beat the #2, #4 and #1 seeds en route to the title and cruised through their last 2 matches.

Ferrer was losing it just after the match while sitting on his bench. Never seen that much fury over losing a tight match like that.

How about that trophy? A sterling silver fan???

Another Episode in the Career of David "I'm Furious" Ferrer!
