2014 China Open ATP Singles Main Draw

the forum would be deserted in no time

Or it might survive a few more years instead of rapidly descending into MTF territory.

I have to hand it to Novak. To beat him you have to STAY on him and fight for every point. Gotta admire his tenacity because he doesn't let up.

Murray used to own Novak on decoturf. From what I understand, Beijing is played on it. If he loses today, he pretty much got crushed twice in a row by a Novak who hasn't been stellar since grass season.

but Novak has never lost on this court either.it must suit him pretty well.

Again. Novak is unbeaten in Beijing so far. Never lost a single match. Despite common misdemeanor Novak is great player on fast HC and better than Murray.

Novak's volleying skills have improved greatly this year.

He's been clutch with his volleys/moving forward.

Novak volleys have improved for a long time now and are quite good. It is just that not many are able to see this here, unfortunately. Too much underrating and hate.

I've definitely underrated his net play in the past but his volleying is probably as good as Nadal/Federer nowadays (however, his smashes are still sometimes questionable in comparison to Fedal).

Yesssssss!!!!! Should have been done by now, but Novak can't close without it drama. That break from Murray was completely unnecessary.

Hopefully Novak will not blink again serving for the match.

GSM Novak. Impressive win.
I hope people will finally give up on that ridiculous notion that Novak is not good player on fast HCs and that Murray is better than him on that surface.

Great finish from the Serb. Let's keep that focus!

I hope Andy will take some positives from this match and qualify for the WTF.

Where was this Novak at USO? :-?

Novak was not himself the whole August. Came unprepared for the whole US summer swing. His mind was not there. Too much partying in July - W win, wedding, baby, ...

BTW This Murray that was destroyed today, destroyed yesterday supposed the new best player in the world Cilic. LOL. Just shows how much is Novak underrated and players like Cilic overrated and overhyped.

why not a "beep" or a "buzz" with 10 seconds to serve?
Murray went over every point in one game, but they were insane rallies, long points. Then Novak went over a couple times. So NONE of them can stay under 25 seconds when they start having 15, 20, 25 and 30 stroke rallies.

It would have to be complicated. A shot clock would have to add time according to how long the last point took, at least.

So it's really not an easy solution.

the solution is to have the umpire buzz or announce when it's "time" starting the countdown. after a long rally he'll announce it after a few more seconds.

That was a really good win for Novak. Upset for Murray because he just can't seem to get a big match win, but very solid from Djokovic.

I saw the whole match because I was curious about what happened. I recorded it and was gone when it happened, then I made the mistake of checking messages here and someone said Nadal lost.

I was expecting lots of slices, problems with 2HBH, but that really was not the story. Klizan would have beaten most of the top players in the world with the game he brought today. His lefty FH was absolutely wicked.

But Nadal at anywhere near his best would not have lost in three sets after winning the first set in a tie-breaker and then being ahead in the 2nd set. The UEs and low percentage on 2nd serves won pretty much told the story.

Such a level head. More of you please lol.
