Novak in 3. If Pascal Maria is umpiring, Novak in 5.

I have a question for the guys who watched the entire Djoko match.

What happened to Nole from the first set onwards? I couldn't understand anything

He seemed to lose focus and started blaming the sun for his poor serving. Imo, he was nervous about the final, and the man whom he would most likely have to face.

To put the odds into perspective I got Rafa at the beginning of the tournament at 2.50 whilst Novak was at 1.90.

Rafael in 4 or 5. Losing that first set against Ferrer seems to have lit a fire under him. He has been a totally different player ever since, no resemblance to the defeated player from the rest of the clay season.

Up to today I Djokovic had the edge but Nadal's performance today was impressive.

The finals is going to be a close call.

Djokovic obviously wants this title as it is missing on his tennis resume.

But he has to work really hard for this, it surely is going to be a great battle.

Nadal looked impressive cause his opponent wasn't on the court. That won't happen on Sunday!

Nadal in 4 sets, especially after watching that performance against Murray and and I ain't even jinxing. Last year's SF against Djokovic told me all I needed to know about Nadal's desire to win this tournament. I can honestly say that what depressed me most after that defeat wasn't even that Nole lost but how Nadal won.

Quite simply he fights for the RG trophy like Eve Harrington fought for good theatre roles- cold, ruthless and wholly efficient. He's simply too good and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Anyway there's no shame in losing to the greatest clay court player ever, no matter how much people on here say he's declined. Nadal's tennis on clay will always be like Liz Taylor's eyes- no matter how old he gets it will always sparkle.

At any rate I'm very proud of my guy. He's become only the sixth player in the Open era to reach multiple finals in all 4 slams and he's gained an extra 480 points which should hopefully enable him to get back to #1 in the next couple of months. It's just a pity that Rafa is always here to block his way.

Nole isn't in spanking form like he was in 2011 too which should make Nadal feel at ease. But if thoughts of Rome 14 F prop up in his head then it'll spell doom for Nadal.

A couple of months ago after Nadal lost in MC I said this, about Nadal losing:

Just a ploy to lull his opponents into a false sense of security

Looks like I was right. :)

How? I got Nadal at 2.87 and Nole at 2.45 so if Nads wins £440 profit and if nole wins £275 am guaranteed profit:)

It'll be an 8 hour final.

I just cannot watch Nadal-Djokovic matches. They bore me to death. But I'll make an effort this time and say someone in 4.

this match has a very Wimbledon 2008 feel.

#1 vs. #2.. one man defending on his greatest surface... another man clawing towards #1 and wanting to dethrone the king.

2012 title game went 4 sets.. 2013's de-facto title game went 5 sets...

I think history repeats itself this year.

Novak over Nadal by Rafa's retirement...

Isn't in great form? He has lost 3 matches since USO and one of them was due to injury. I can't believe how everyone ignores this.

He has also won 4 straight against Nadal. When has he ever played Nadal at RG in this kind of form? Even 2011 Djokovic would have lost that 3rd set to Gulbis. 2011 Novak was actually dropping sets left and right to many players.

In addition, the weather in last year's semi was 27 C and dry. And he still almost won when Rafa was better and he was worse.

Wow Rafa is playing for 9 titles at 1 slam, + tying Sampras's 14 + consolidating his #1 ranking. Wow wow wow. Fed fans should shake in their boots

Here we go again.

I want to believe that Djokovic will win, but a part of me knows that no matter how close it is, Rafa will find a way.

I somehow feel the reverse.

Nadal's average level is higher than novak's on clay.

But if novak makes it close on clay, will we see any signs of nerves from rafa against novak.

we know rafa fears novak more than any other player, and we have seen him make mistakes on big pts against novak in slams before.

If rafa comes out strong, dont think novak will win.

Novak needs to win the first and start strong, and then somehow win the important pts in a probable 5th set.

The weather will decide this match.

Sunny and warm, Nadal wins.

Cold, Nole wins.

I think today's performance doesn't matter much for the Finals.

Currently, Nadal in front of Djoko, is like how Fed is in front of Nadal (more or less). It doesn't matter what form Nadal is taking into his meeting with Djoko, Djoko is too much in his mind.

Nadal will start the match with his usual "doubts" and insecurities, will be under confident. On the other hand, Djoko will start with full of confidence. Rafa will keep on missing regulation FH & BH like in Miami, and Rome, and the MC match against Ferrer.

This match-up is just against Rafa. It'll require some herculean effort from him, to win this one.
Still I have my hopes pinned on #9 & #14. :)

Defeating Nadal at RG: the biggest challenge there will ever be in tennis. One needs a lot of courage to take it up.

More like regain his #1 ranking, as Nole entered RG as the provisional #1. Nadal will be 170 points ahead of Djokovic if/when he wins the final.

Bad news for Nadal is Nole will have gained 480 points. Good news is Nole has a final to defend while he has R1 points to defend in Wimby.

Nah, many of them think he is having a grand comeback, didn't you know he will win Wimbledon 2014!

Their irrational exuberance cannot be shattered. And if he faulters at Wimbledon, no worries, there is always the US open, or the next slam.

Nadal has no problem with cold. No problem with rain either. Flooding, is a different story. But I don't think they'll let them play this time if it floods (unlike the disgrace of 2012).

The best Djokovic can hope for is that Nadal somehow reverts back to playing defensively (which he did for portions of 2013 RG, and that's how they got into a 5th set).

And why is that? Nadal can win on clay as much as he wants. He dissapears for the rest of the season 2 days from now and that's all that matters.

Wimbledon will truly consolidate Nadal's #1 ranking. Huge points gains to be had there (and potential huge points loss for Djokovic if he fails to reach the final).

Dont mind who wins, one of those players getting beaten is a win for me. I think if i was pushed, i would say Nadal will win, Djokovic has lost to him twice here when he's looked in god-like form. He is not looking in that same form this year, i think this could be a real anti-climax.

Rafa in 3.

how was 2012 god-like form from Djokovic? He stumbled into the final after so many tough matches and beatdowns from Nadal throughout that clay season.

Djokovic's form at this years FO has been as high as its been in the last 3 years.
