I was hoping for Nadal vs. Djokovic at the AO (and every slam for the last 3 years), but now I hope for Nadal vs. Tsonga so Nadal can wrap up the year-end #1 sooner. And having a Frenchman in the final would be by far the best thing for this event.

Nadal will only win if Nole loses before the final. Everybody knows this, man. Actually not even with that scenario its a foregone conclusion after what happened at the AO... Ferrer could pull a Wawrinka but would lose in the final to Djokovic.

If that happens, that makes David Ferrer the number 1 current player in consecutive quarters, haha

Is Ferrer your favourite player? Outside of Nole, David is definitely the one player who I'd love to see win RG this year. He's a great clay court player so I feel he'd really deserve it.

It would also rattle the French a little because Nadal's streak would come to an end but with yet another Spaniard taking the mantle. Haha.

you know that trend of Spaniards winning RG in World Cup years for the past 2 decades?

1994 Bruguera
1998 Moya
2002 Costa
2006 Nadal
2010 Nadal
2014????

I don't give Djokovic a chance of beating Nadal at Roland Garros. Djokovic is done. Djokovic hasn't won a slam outside of Australia since 2011. Just accept that he's really good at the non-slams (although not as good at Rome 2014 as he was at Monte Carlo 2013).

This one is almost done and dusted. Impressive 6-4 6-4 6-3 (?) performance from Jo. Novak will have to bring his best game, not the garbage we saw today

Tsonga is one tough cookie to play against in the 4th (like Fed did at the AO btw). Gulbis is the 2nd toughest 4th-rounder for a top-4 seed though.
Both matches have upset potential, Gulbis more than Tsonga due to Djoko being in way better form than Fed.

I never expect Gulbis to beat anyone. He's just way too unreliable/fragile mentally. Federer in 3 is the likely outcome.

Yes he is, but I know his level of play and don't think he is an almighty god like Nadal fans.

I'm proud to watch him because he's a top 25-30 talent that just punched his clock to the upper echelon. Never quits, always works.

+1. His work ethic has always been the thing I most admire about him. Great player and I wish him all the best for the rest of the tournament.
