I want to do a poll for point of the year, but I will first do this nomination thread and then make the thread with the poll. If we get more than 10 nominations I will do brackets. I will also separate mens and womens.

Best point of the year was won by Ymer against Gerasimov in R2 of 2014 Helsinki Challenger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52K4IjlV5S0

You'll only see this kind of nonsense on the challenger level. Neither of them can pass or direct a volley for a winner. If it was the ATP the point would've ended earlier without all the clowning.

The most obvious thing is the inside-in forehand at 10 seconds. The guy is such an idiot he just stands in the tramlines watching it instead of covering the net and putting away an easy volley. Embarrassing stuff.

While I do agree with you on the bolded part (rushing back to the baseline and immediately being put onto the defensive), it was nevertheless entertaining stuff!...

Nishi heat's return winners off Djokocic'a second serves in US Open semifinal should be included. Felt sorry for Novak.

Not one with Federer ?? That's can't be right. I was under the impression that he was the only player on the tour !!

There was an epic point from Murray against Nadal in Rome when Nadal lobbed it over him and Murray had to run back to the baseline to catch the ball before the second bounce and he ended up winning the point.

But I can't find any footage as the highlights have been taken down :(

I did find this little gem though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cWF8YOaVck

^^For point, it's incredible play from both players. A shot is usually not as long and is incredible from just the one player, imo....

pretty much this. A great point is a great exchange between both players. A great shot is a great/spectacular finish to a point.

Djokovic's Miami match point was a great point. Dimitrov's Stockholm (double) tweener was a great shot.

Okay when I post the polls I will emphasize that a great point has quality play from both players
