I think Andy's getting some of that 2012/13 tenacity back - especially in tight situations.

To be fair to Ferrer, he played very well himself in that second set to fight back but Andy reacted well.

Andy's energy levels seem to fluctuate a lot at the moment. Hardly surprising when he's been playing so much lately. It may partly account for his incredible lapse when surrendering a double break in the 2nd set and for the waywardness of his serve at crucial moments.

I really do wonder what he's gonna have left in the tank by the time he gets to London but he may well be looking ahead to the new season and securing as high a rank as possible in time for the AO.

It's a pity he can't tank Paris (where yet again he's been handed a tough draw) but he still needs points at this stage. It's certainly proving a really hard slog for him and a real test of his endurance and fitness levels!

It did look extremely humid in there with a lot of people fanning themselves in the crowd. Ferrer looked like he had a bathtub of water thrown on him so I don't think it was just his energy levels that were causing him problems but what was sapping them

^^^That extra week off between Paris and London should definitely benefit him though Mainad. With the amount of tournaments he's been playing recently he'll need it!

Well, Ferrer is part owner of the tournament so if anyone can do anything to improve the conditions...he can! :)

If he wins this tournament, he's pretty much guaranteed the O2 isn't he?

If he wins, he overtakes Berdych who is in 7th. Whilst its not 100% certain, you would have to say there is little chance for all 3 of Berdych/Ferrer/Raonic to all do well enough at Paris to overtake him.

If he wins, he overtakes Berdych, Cilic and Nishikori and moves to 5 in the race.

I think everyone following the race closely will need it. It's exhausting as a spectator, never mind a player!:)

I wonder if Murray thinks he can get back to nr 4 by end of year. Given Stan's shocking form, it's not entirely out of the realms of possibility.

It's definitely a possibility. Credit to Murray for making up a lot of ground the last few weeks. I wonder how fresh he'll be for Paris/WTF though.

I haven't had a chance to watch many of Murray's matches since the USO. Does he have that crazy forehand he was using against Djokovic for ~1 hour at the USO or is it gone?

I'm not sure what you mean, but he's hitting huge shots off both wings today. Currently up a set and a double-break.

There was an extended period during the USO QF when he was hitting huge forehands and Novak kept going back to that wing to break it down.

I don't think I've ever seen him put on such a good forehand display, even under Lendl. The commentators noticed it too and thought it was part of the reason he tired out in the 4th set.

Anyway, if he's hitting huge that's good news.

7-6 Chardy

Is it a requirement for all of these small tournaments to pay nubile, voluptuous girls to stand behind the players' seats and be on camera?
