After seeing the mental game Lisicki played with Schvedova when on BP for Schvedova 1-1 in the 3rd he asked for medical TO DURING THE GAME AND SHE INTERRUPTED PLAY FOR 10 MIN I wish Halep to give her a good lesson.

And I'm confident she will.

On paper now, based on prev experience, the favorite is Kvitova.

Let's see.

However, also on paper, Halep is leading career-wise with all the ladies left in the tournament

What did she do to cheat?? Don't really follow Kerber nor her game lol.

Last month in the FO against Hantuchova. Kerber hit a ball that was called out, but when it was called out, Hantuchova hit it back and Kerber stopped the point, questioning the line call. The umpire overruled the call, then inexplicably gave the point to Kerber, who took the point even though it wasn't hers.

You can see video of it here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip4b4otl-c0

Kerber revealed herself to be a low class player, and I will always root against her from now on.

Whatever happened to Julia ? She used to be top 20 player for a couple of years and now almost out of 100 ? Or is she just concentrating on doubles to extend her career understanding her limits ?

Kvitova looking very good, definitely good enough to be considered the favorite at this point. But not quite invincible. I haven't seen Safarova play this tournament, but she has been good all year. I did see a couple of Makarova's matches, and she looked very solid, so for Safarova to dismiss her so routinely makes me think that Kvitova might have her hands full in the semis.

Regardless, I am happy with everyone else in the draw winning, though I am rooting for KERBER BABY!!!

Even if you don't like Sharapova, I don't see how you could ever root for such a blatant cheater like Kerber.

Every single instance of gamesmanship against Sharapova is well deserved. The shrieking and time wasting she gets away with are disgusting. Not to mention strategic toilet breaks when the other player has the momentum

For whatever reason they played two of the quarterfinals today.

So one semifinal plus the other quarterfinals are set:

Eugenie Bouchard[13]
vs.
Angelique Kerber[9]

Simona Halep[3]
vs.
Sabine Lisicki[19]

Lucie Safarova[23]
vs.
Petra Kvitova[6]

Disappointed Maria lost, but not that surprised. The channel slam is a tough ask, plus grass isn't really her surface now. I hope the winner is either Halep or Safarova

Wimbledon was never a strong event for her; by that I mean yes she won, but that--in tennis years--is a lifetime ago. She never had the form or great physical qualities to be one of the forces of the event.

So lisicki had 20 double faults and still wins the match? Lol.Iike lisicki but yhats putrid. The women's game needs coaches to teach these women how to serve correctly

Apparently she was having some sort of arm/shoulder problem though. She took a MTO when she was down breakpoint in the second set. She usually has a lot of DF but not that many. Lisicki has a very powerful serve, arguably top 3 in the WTA right now.

I like her game too but WTH happens to her for the rest of the year? Honestly I almost never hear anything about her or see her play in anything besides Wimbledon. I know she's there she just doesn't do anything lol.

Her and Kvitova. Seems like they lose early everywhere else, but decides to turn it up at Wimbledon. Grass surface suits them, I supposed.

Halep takes 1st and breaks cheating Lisicki immediately.

Halep is classy and will administer a lesson to this cheating Lisicky, asking yesterday for a totally unjustified MTO AT BREAKPOINT AGAINST HER, at 1-1 in the 3rd set, in the middle of the game, just to disturb Schvedova, which she did after a 10 min interruption.

Stupid rules, of course, and L, with her MD father, was informed and cheeky enough to use it.

3-0. Kill the cheaters.

BAGEL. Good enough for them.

Are you ready?

I have to say that I'm happy Halep beat Lisicki. I have nothing against Lisicki - in fact she won me over last year! - but I can't get over the fact she only seems to show up at Wimbledon. On the other hand Halep is the real deal, #3 and the world and is now in the Wimbledon semis fresh off a showing in the final at the French Open.

In a sense, both Halep and Bouchard have had similar Slam performances this year. Halep's quarterfinal + final is more or less the equivalent of Bouchard's two semifinal appearances. And here they are playing another semifinal. Interesting.

Yep, we're seeing a definite changing of the guard. Next step: one of them has to win a Slam.

I think we've finally reached "generational transition" stage. (Though I might want to wait until one of the youngsters wins a Slam). Of course, generations overlap, so it's not like there's a clear line of demarcation. The elders are not going to completely go away. Sharapova will continue to be tough. Though, it may seem like a crazy notion now, I expect Serena (if she has the desire), and even Li, to have a few more big moments, deep runs, maybe even another Slam (for Serena anyway). Azarenka should re-emerge and be a contender again.

Yet, I really do feel like things are legitimately changing. And, again, it's something that just sort of appears one day. I never would have said this a year ago when it looked like Serena, Azarenka, Li, Sharapova would continue on at the top, all generally performing well on the big stages for the foreseeable future.

Halep and Bouchard clearly the cream of Generation Next, and others like Muzuraga with big potential.

Tomorrow, 8 am EST, Wimbledon center court

Ladies' Singles - Semi-finals

Lucie Safarova (CZE) [23]
v
Petra Kvitova (CZE) [6]

Eugenie Bouchard (CAN) [13]
v
Simona Halep (ROU) [3]

Agreed. Good post.

Ok, I can't take it. This is like the 5th thread you've pasted this post into, except you added "kill the cheaters" here for emphasis. She didn't cheat. Everything she did was within the rules. You and others may not like it, but it's not cheating. And how the hell do you think Shvedova got that breakpoint on her to begin with? Because Lisicki's shoulder was injured and she was serving little puffballs. Contrast that to the way she closed out her Ivanovic match the day before: second serve ace, 119 mph out wide. She said she couldn't get her arm up to serve. Sure it would have been nice of her to gift that match to Shvedova, but she decided to do everything within the rules to try to win her match, and that includes getting medical treatment to be able to serve. It may not win her popularity contests, but she is there to compete and win matches. If Shvedova can't keep her head together, that's her failing.

I wish Lisicki had been a 100% today to be more competitive against Halep (I would have been happy for either to win).

If Kvitova wins the SF, it'll assure that someone born in the 90s (Kvitova or Halep/Bouchard) will win this major.

Yeah that poster Marius_Hancu for some reason ALWAYS posts the exact same info/post in multiple threads. It's starting to get pretty annoying now tbh.

I agree completely with you here as Lisicki did say in her post match interview she could barely lift her arm and tried to play a few more points. She actually called the trainer before that game and just really couldn't serve anymore. Nothing else to it.

There is ALWAYS something wrong with Lisicki. She can't handle the pressure at Wimbledon or any place else for that matter. She is the consummate head case.

Agreed; Serena will do what she's always had to in her career: add more motivation, and the new generation serves that purpose. As for Vika--she's just in a post injury/hiccup phase. She will be back.

True.

I don't think you watched the Shvedova match or the Halep match and didn't see what went on. So you just pulled that out of some place.

Nope. My point stands that Lisicki is a huge head case and drama queen. One of the biggest. This is not a secret, it is there for all to see. She is horrible under pressure.
